TOO MUCH (best price 11/2) ran out quite an impressive winner on handicap debut over today’s C&D a month ago and with the distinct likelihood of even more to come, James Horton’s filly should turn out to be extremely competitive yet again.

Shaping well on three of her previous starts, two of which came at the Midland venue, she returned to the same venue as a rather unconsidered 12/1 chance up against two horses who dominated the market with progressive profiles from powerful stables. Despite her being overlooked, however, she travelled like the best horse in the race and it was noticeable she only had to be nudged out in the latter stages to register a pretty facile success.

Needless to say, today’s task represents a stiffer test to the one she faced 26 days ago, but she does have the advantage of having run at the track three times and all things considered, that knowledge could tip the balance in her favour in the final analysis.

Three of today’s field took part in two divisions of a 0-57 handicap here last week and with not a good deal to separate the trio based on the numbers, TOM TULLIVER (best price 4/1) just gains the slight vote on account of his deeper body of work at the track over a longer period of time.

Improving his game since upped in trip, Scott Dixon’s gelding was well supported to back up his previous C&D victory earlier in the month and although things didn’t quite pan out in his favour, his performance in chasing home the well-fancied Kodebreaker was still a commendable one.

Keeping on strongly down the nearside rail, he might well have been even more effective if he’d had a stronger gallop to shoot at and, in the hope that scenario turns out to be the case on his return visit, the six-year-old can add to his recent track stats of 1212.

Cavalluccio just got the better of How Bizarre in the second division and given his lightly-raced profile, he rates the obvious threat.
