Eased down towards the finish once the job was done, the five-year-old scored with seemingly plenty of running left in the tank and with conditions identical and step up to his optimum trip seen as major positives, there’s every reason to feel upbeat about his prospects.

TUDDENHAM GREEN (best price 3/1) arrives here as a maiden on the Flat, but given his recent exploits over hurdles, there’s more than a fair chance that unwanted tag will be shed sooner rather than later and with ground in his favour and fitness on his side, Alan King’s gelding rates a tempting prospect off his current rating.

A winner on his debut as a juvenile hurdler at Chepstow earlier in the season, the son of Nathaniel failed to live up to the expectations of connections at a higher level on his next two starts but after a 130-day break, he took advantage of a fair easier task at Haydock last time out.

Despite being sticky at one or two of his obstacles, he still proved too strong for his sole rival and with that victory backing up the view he’s more than comfortable on soft ground, a repeat of his effort when third behind subsequent Melrose handicap hero Soulcombe at Haydock should be good enough for him to be a major factor off a mark of 70.

Of the rest, fellow hurdler, Coquelicot, could turn out to be the main danger.
