Leg 1 Selections: Abingworth, San Pedro De Senam, Beaufort West 

Gary Moore has a great record at this venue and ABINGWORTH ran well on his penultimate start at this course when third. He was well off-it last time but has a chance back at this venue.

His stablemate, SAN PEDRO DE SENAM, has been largely consistent in defeat of late and is 22 pounds lower than when last successful. He should be in the firing line once more. 

BEAUFORT WEST has placed in three of his four visits here and will find this a lot easier than the race he competed in last time, so he is also included.

Leg 2 Selections: Hector Jaguen, Extraordinary Man 

Gary Moore’s HECTOR JAGUEN came good at the fourth time of asking in this sphere when easily winning at Fontwell last-time-out and he has to be respected under his penalty. Despite this being tougher than last time, he is the one they all have to beat. 

EXTRAORDINARY MAN couldn’t match his encouraging chase debut second when only fourth last time but he drops into a class 5 for the first time here and has undergone wing surgery since last time. He is thrown in here off 99, so better is expected.

Leg 3 Selections: Happy Boy 

Highland Frolic has become expensive to follow and the vote instead goes to HAPPY BOY, who showed promise over course-and-distance last time. 

Chris Gordon’s charge has plenty more to come and should improve on his latest fifth, where he caught the eye. 

If he can take a step forward from that performance with Tom Cannon back in the saddle, he should be competitive in a race that is weak. Either way, he should be more than able to make the frame in leg 3.

Leg 4 Selections: Northern Poet, Hiway One O Three, Pawpaw, Uallrightharry

All of the quintet cannot be ruled out in leg 4. I liked the way NORTHERN POET stepped up on his chase debut when scoring at Huntingdon last time. 

He looked to be going nowhere at one stage but stayed on strongly to win a shade comfortably once the penny dropped and should be thereabouts off a three pounds higher mark. 

HIWAY ONE O THREE completed a hat-trick over hurdles last spring and has raised his game over fences, winning two starts back before a fair second in a messy race last time. 

He could appreciate the longer trip, while PAWPAW and UALLRIGHTHARRY are not without hope, especially the former who won very easily at Hereford.

Leg 5 Selections: Effernock Fizz, Get Back Get Back, Glorious Zoff 

The feature race is in leg 5, the Sussex Champion Hurdle, and the durable EFFERNOCK FIZZ is fancied to make an impact back over hurdles. 

She won the Welsh Champion Hurdle in October beating some good horses and wasn’t disgraced in the Arkle last time when sixth. She is highly respected from a mark that isn’t beyond here based on her previous exploits.

GET BACK GET BACK made a mistake at the wrong time at Ascot last time but was still a decent effort and should he keep the errors at bay here, he’s got a good chance. 

GLORIOUS ZOFF outperformed market expectations when a close-up fourth at Newbury last time and a repeat here should see him in the mix. The bookmakers have his odds all wrong here.

Leg 6 Selections: Love Is Golden

Gary Moore’s charge LOVE IS GOLDEN has won two of his three hurdle starts and impressed in beating a decent field at Newbury last time. He might have been let in here lightly on handicap debut off a mark of 125 and should take all of the beating with more to come
