Leg 1 Selections: Exorbitant, Wallop

EXORBITANT was restless in the stalls on debut and was slow intro stride but made some good late headway to finish a never-nearer sixth of 10 over course-and-distance.

He is sure to improve from that debut experience and Rossa Ryan maintains the ride. He could easily outrun his odds with his stable amongst the winners.

WALLOP is the obvious standout pick of the shorter-priced runners, who has shaped with promise in each of his three starts, in which he finished a close-up third behind a pair of pattern-class horses and ran well in a Group 2 next time to finish fifth.

He was last seen finishing a close-up second behind the 103-rated Bolt Action and this is a major ease in grade, so he is strongly fancied to open his account.

Leg 2 Selections: Bailar Contigo, Ticket To Alaska, Threebars

BAILAR CONTIGO could only finish sixth at this course when last seen but she makes her handicap off a lenient mark and this is an ease in grade compared to her three starts, so she could go well from a nice draw in stall 2. She is also her trainer's only runner on the card too.

TICKET TO ALASKA is more exposed than most of these but he counteracts that with his consistent performances and has been thereabouts in his last two starts. His trainer is in good form and Rossa Ryan is back in the saddle. He appeals most of those towards the top of the market.

Of the remainder, THREEBARS ran her best race to date when sixth of 12 on handicap debut at Wolverhampton and seven-pounds will offset by her rider. She is drawn well in stall five and Richard Hannon’s team are in good form. She should improve and be able to make an impact.

Leg 3 Selections: Onight

Archie Watson’s ONIGHT is fancied to land the third race. His debut third over course-and-distance could hardly have worked out any better, as the first and second have both won good races since, especially the latter, Desert Cop, who took the All-Weather 3 Year Old Championships Conditions Stakes.

Archie Watson’s charge won at Newcastle next time from the front and is drawn well to attack early here as well. He is surely going to be hard to beat and should be a clear favourite with form-lines taken into serious consideration.

Leg 4 Selections: Strike, Be Prepared, Sweet Mist

STRIKE came close to winning over course-and-distance last autumn from only a pound lower mark and has now made the frame in both starts at this course. He won a better race than this at Newmarket last year and he’s gone well after a break before, so he’s a contender if he can overcome a draw in stall 11.

BE PREPARED took a step back in the right direction when a two-length fifth on his reappearance at Lingfield and is two pounds below his last winning mark. He is surely a player if able to build on that latest form.

SWEET MIST gets the services of Oisin Murphy and has run well on each of her last three starts, with a win and two placed efforts and went very close at Wolverhampton last time. She is drawn well in stall five and her raised mark doesn’t look impossible to defy, so she should be in the mix.

Leg 5 Selections: Maasai Mara, Tagabawa

MAASAI MARA will be acquitted in first-time blinkers and produced a career-best performance at this course last time. An opening mark of 83 seems reasonable and he has more to come, so he could be tough to beat.

TAGABAWA returned a beaten favourite here last time when third but impressed on debut at Wolverhampton and retains potential with the step up in trip to suit. He is Charlie Appleby’s only runner on the card and a mark of 85 isn't too bad either, so William Buick could guide him to success.

Leg 6 Selections: Assessment, Hoornblower

ASSESSMENT opened his account around this time last year at Yarmouth when beating a 90-rated horse and returning a beaten favourite next time when third, he has to be taken seriously on his return.

He was beaten half-a-length on debut by a 103-rated horse and is undoubtedly well-treated off 85 here. He has a huge chance from a good draw in stall 1 and is Sir Michael Stoute’s only runner here too.

HOORNBLOWER is the next option, who went close in a higher-grade race at Wolverhampton when last seen and makes his handicap debut from a nice mark and isn’t badly drawn in draw 7 either.
