Leg 1 Selections: Dionysian, Surely Not, Seductive Power
A good-quality handicap to start the second day of the Craven meeting where plenty are in with a shout. DIONYSIAN has been well-suited to positive tactics the last two times and while this is a deeper race, returned to the turf, he isn’t out of this if able to translate his all-weather form.
SURELY NOT has won two of his five starts and beat a good field quite stylishly two starts back at Newbury. An untidy start inconvenienced him at York last time but he kept on well to be nearest the finish in fifth and might emerge as a leading player under the guidance of Hollie Doyle.
SEDUCTIVE POWER couldn’t get to grips with Get Stuck In two starts ago when second but that was a nice effort on his first effort over a mile and Jim Crowley might be able to get improvement out of him here. For place purposes, he could be solid material at a price.

Leg 2 Selections: Admiral D, Above, Orazio
ADMIRAL D has yet to strike for current connections but has largely performed with credit in a number of starts and is a pound lower than when second in a good race on the July course last year. If he is ready to roll, he shouldn’t be far away from this mark and in a race that should be run to suit.
ABOVE finished second at this course last year from a six pounds higher mark and caught the eye with a keeping-on fifth at Chelmsford last-time-out in this grade. He has the ability to figure if he is in the mood, so it is dangerous to rule him out with his fitness assured.
ORAZIO looked as though he retained most of his two-year-old ability when a fair sixth at Kempton last time after a long absence on his handicap debut. His close-up third in a Listed event at Newbury behind Caturra is really strong form, so he’s worth an investment on the ticket with that latest run under his belt.

Leg 3 Selections: Intenso, Canberra Legend
INTENSO looked a smart prospect in the making when sauntering to victory on debut at Newcastle and has to be shortlisted given his trainer has won this three times in the past, including with Derby winner Golden Horn.
CANBERRA LEGEND, also an impressive debutant winner, hails from the bang in-form James Ferguson squad and could establish himself to be a pattern-class performer as well on the evidence of his success at Newcastle.
By contrast, the latter recorded a three second quicker time than the former over the same course-and-distance, though the races were on different days. I really liked his debut performance and the bookmakers have his odds all wrong here.

Leg 4 Selections: Karsavina, Girl Racer
Coppice won in good style on debut but she is up against a few other impressive debutant winners, who might represent better value. I was taken with the way KARSAVINA won over course-and-distance on debut.
She overcame positional track bias, as she was forced to make her challenge on the outside of the field, which is far from ideal at this course. However, despite being bumped inside the final furlong, she won with more in hand than the margin indicated.
I know this is a step up in class but the fact she has the course form in the book and has more to come, makes her an appealing project at the prices. Clive Cox could have a serious filly on his hands.
GIRL RACER could hardly have been more impressive when she showcased a brilliant turn of foot to scoot clear of her rivals at Wolverhampton on debut. This is a tougher assignment but she cannot be taken lightly with more to come and the potential to rank higher.

Leg 5 Selections: Specific Times, Dorothy Lawrence
The Charlie Johnston-trained SPECIFIC TIMES is related to the high-class Newspaperofrecord and this daughter of Blue Point could be a big player on her racecourse debut. She is drawn in stall 1 and her trainer is more than capable of readying a newcomer, so she is worth a second look.
Karl Burke’s team is absolutely flying, who had three winners in succession yesterday and therefore debutant DOROTHY LAWRENCE has to be given the utmost respect. She has a smart pedigree and is drawn nicely in stall 6. She is also included and could be up to making a winning debut. She has attracted plenty of early market support as well.

Leg 6 Selections: Ludmilla
John and Thady Gosden’s LUDMILLA made a highly-promising, eye-catching debut at this course in October, where she was slow into stride but once she found her feet, she charged home to be nearest the finish in third.
There is no doubt she would have won in another couple of strides but that experience will have taught her a lot and she holds a 1000 Guineas entry, so with more to come, she is probably the one to beat tackling a mile for the first time.
