Leg 1 Selections: Not Another Muddle, Telhimlisten, Gavroche D’allier

NOT ANOTHER MUDDLE is getting long in the tooth but he is a course-and-distance winner and ran well when second in a slightly stronger race than this here last time. He isn’t taken lightly, while TELLHIMLISTEN would have won five on the spin but for a soft unseat last time and could make amends. GAVROCHE D’ALLIER has plenty to find with the previous two but could advance his form over fences and is included as cover.

Leg 2 Selections: Breaking Cover

BREAKING COVER gets the sole vote in the second race, who was runner-up on his completed start in Irish points and is soon switched to hurdles after finishing down the field on rules debut at Ascot. He is applied with a tongue-tie for the first time and his trainer is amongst the winners of late, so he is fancied to go well on his hurdles debut.

Leg 3 Selections: Forest Jump, Galway Mahler

FOREST JUMP left previous hurdles exploits in his wake when third here last time over a shorter trip. He is three pounds lower back over a favourable longer distance and has more to come in the handicap ranks, so he is one of the leading candidates. GALWAY MAHLER drops in class for his handicap debut and has undergone wind surgery since last time, so he could take a step forward from previous efforts and figure.

Leg 4 Selections: Tip Top Mountain, Gold Clermont

TIP TOP MOUNTAIN was winning for the fifth time over fences at Uttoxeter last time, where he dominated the race from the front and from only a four pounds higher mark, he is sure to make a bold bid to enhance his fine strike-rate in this sphere. GOLD CLERMONT ran poorly at Hereford last time but is unbeaten in two starts at this course and could resume his progress.

Leg 5 Selections: Surrey Quest, Hasty Parisian

SURREY QUEST could only finish seventh in first-time cheekpieces at Chepstow last time back in this sphere but he is four pounds lower in this much easier race and Daryl Jacob takes the ride. He could pose a threat against some quirky rivals, while HASTY PARISIAN has run well in all three starts this year and should be there or thereabouts.

Leg 6 Selections: Captain Claude, Bold Thady

CAPTAIN CLAUDE gained a first win over hurdles in emphatic style at Fontwell by 23 lengths and that race has subsequently thrown up a subsequent winner, so he is worth sticking with as he should be able to be competitive in this uninspiring event. THE BOLD THADY was beaten a fair way into fourth last time but a repeat of his short-head second two starts ago would be enough to see him on the premises.
