Amo Racing have made a fantastic start to the season so the fact that Kevin Stott has chosen to ride TOKYO DRIFT (best priced at 11/4) over newcomer Always Love You (for a yard who are currently operating at a 36% strike rate) seems significant. The David Loughnane trained filly finished a close 3rd on her debut at Kempton when only beaten ½ length by Out Of The Stars who is regarded as a Royal Ascot filly.

Tokyo Drift led for most of the 5f contest that day and she should be able to make her experience count and get off the mark at the second attempt.

This looks a competitive 0-100 handicap but preference goes to PIECEDERESISTANCE (best priced at 16/1) who showed his best form over this course and distance last season. The Micky Hammond trained five-year-old outran odds of 80/1 to finish 2nd on his stable debut on the flat last year over this course and distance before winning by ½ length over this course and distance on his next start.

Piecederesistance has placed on her previous two starts over hurdles at Newcastle and Sedgefield and is now interesting reverting back to the flat off a mark of 87. That is only 2lbs higher than his course and distance success last year and he should run well with four places on offer.

This extreme test of 2m5½f on the flat is a unique race and I feel the market is underestimating the chances of last year’s winner DEREHAM (best priced at 9/1). John Berry has good chances with both the selection and the favourite Tarbat Ness but Dereham races here off only a 7lbs higher mark than last year.

Dereham won by seven lengths last season before following up at Newmarket off a mark of 58 in June. He races here off the same mark of 58 and I expect him to run well with four places on offer and Faye McManoman on board.
