Leg 1 Selections: Ginger Mail, Letterston Lady

GINGER MAIL won on his reappearance at Ayr and has finished second in his last two starts. I know the assessor has continued to raise his mark but he should remain competitive with cheek-pieces on for the first time.

LETTERSTON LADY won easily on hurdles debut at Worcester and looked in need of the run last time. She should be able to make a bigger impact in this.

Leg 2 Selections: Planned Paradise, Gentleman De Mai

PLANNED PARADISE has competed in better races than this of late and he shouldn’t lack for stamina given he was second to subsequent Grand National Trial winner Quick Wave at Sandown over 3m4f in December.

He is unexposed over marathon trips and could feature prominently in the outcome. I wouldn’t rule out GENTLEMAN DE MAI either, who has finished second in both starts in this sphere.

Leg 3 Selections: Resplendent Grey

Olly Murphy’s RESPLENDENT GREY has won two of his last three starts and this bumper winner made a winning start to his hurdles career at Wetherby. He is penalised for that success but has a lot more to come and has a good chance despite his trainer going quiet in the last couple of weeks. He should be extremely hard to beat.

Leg 4 Selections: Bridge North

BRIDGE NORTH jumped very well when scoring on his chase debut at Newbury and he merits serious consideration from only a 3Ib higher mark. He will do well to concede weight to all of these but he always looked a chaser in the making even when he was over hurdles. He is fancied to go very well for the in-form Henry Daly team.

Leg 5 Selections: Doyen Breed

DOYEN BREED developed into a smart novice chaser last season, winning on chase debut before finishing second three times in succession, including in a pair of Grade 2 events. He ran very well behind Elvis Mail last time despite a bad mistake early on and this is easier, so he must enter calculations in a first-time visor, which could turn out to be beneficial.

Leg 6 Selections: What A Steal, Take Centre Stage

WHAT A STEAL has yet to match his bumper form over hurdles but Brian Hughes is an interesting jockey booking and he makes his handicap debut from a nice mark. Tom George also has an excellent strike-rate at the course, while TAKE CENTRE STAGE should be suited to the step up in distance and can get involved.
