Architect Tips shares his Tote Placepot tips for today's action at Sandown.
13:05 Sandown
Leg 1 Selections: Killaloan, Celtic Art, Joedadancer, Imperial Bede
There should be plenty more in the locker of KILLALOAN, who has made good progress in his hurdling career, completing a hat-trick when seeing off the reopposing Bertie's Wish last time and is the choice of Harry Cobden. He will have to overcome a 13Ib hike in the weights to maintain his winning sequence but he shouldn’t be far away if able to make his mark in this higher grade.
Jeremy Scott’s CELTIC ART is interesting though, who was above-average on the Flat, rated as high as 90, and has looked good in winning his two hurdle races since finishing third on hurdles debut. An opening mark of 120 is really lenient given he beat a next-time-out winner last time and he is one to consider.
JOE DADANCER has progressed with each of his four hurdling starts and made the most of a good opportunity at Southwell last month. He has the potential to rank higher than a mark of 118, so Ben Pauling’s charge merits respect, as does IMPERIAL BEDE, who won in good style two starts ago and goes handicapping from a fair mark as well.

Leg 2 Selections: Captain Guinness, Jonbon
CAPTAIN GUINNESS makes the trip over from Ireland and it could pay dividends, as his trainer Henry De Bromhead deliberately bypassed both the Aintree and Punchestown Festivals in order to tackle this race.
The eight-year-old turned in a near-career best performance when second behind Energumene in last month's Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Festival and this could be the day he bags his Grade 1.
Ludicrously, I just haven’t warmed to JONBON but that’s no disrespect to him, as he has achieved a lot already in his career and was impressive at Aintree last time.
He handles soft ground and while this is a quick turnaround from Aintree, he must be showing the right signs at home. Nicky Henderson wouldn’t be risking him without good reason, so he’s played as cover.

Leg 3 Selections: Moroder, Coolvalla, Enrilo
The nine-year-old MORODER gained a career-best victory in the Grimthorpe Handicap Chase at Doncaster last-time-out and this winning machine, who jumps well and won under Michael Nolan over 3m6f at Exeter, has already proved he stays further plus he goes well on good ground and gets into this on a tiny weight as well. I really like his chances.
COOLVALLA has looked a different proposition since going chasing, in which he has won five of his six starts with his only defeat coming in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham. He is on a career-high mark but he loves winning, will love conditions, will love the trip and the seven-year-old has plenty more to come. He also gets into this race on a nice weight, so there’s plenty to like about him.
ENRILO has been well below his best in the last year and a half or so but he is well-handicapped and actually won this two years ago before he was disqualified for causing interference. He ran a bit better at Kempton last time and could make the frame from his reduced mark.

Leg 4 Selections: Hewick
HEWICK is not only the form pick but is also clear of these on official ratings, who was set to run a big race in the Cheltenham Gold Cup before falling at the second last fence. He won the bet365 Gold Cup Handicap on this card last year and Rachael Blackmore has been booked to ride. He has been given plenty of time to get over his tumble last time and should be too good for these. He can sign his season off on a high note.

Leg 5 Selections: Quinta Do Mar, Hudson De Grugy
QUINTA DO MAR jumped very well under a positive ride from Luca Morgan last time when opening his account at the third time of asking over fences and the handicapper has only put him up four pounds for winning quite comfortably. Ben Pauling’s charge should be suited to this course and Luca Morgan has his only ride on the card, so he should go well.
Gary Moore’s HUDSON DE GRUGY has won three of his four starts here and scored over course-and-distance here last month in this sphere. The runner-up is better off at the weights but he should still be in the mix despite all of his best form coming on softer ground than he is likely to get on this occasion.

Leg 6 Selections: Thyme Hill, Goshen
THYME HILL never went a yard in the Brown Advisory at Cheltenham last month but is a dual Grade 1 winner over hurdles and he comes out really well on these terms. He is the best of these in this sphere and should take plenty of beating getting weight from some of his biggest challengers but being the highest rated runner in the field.
GOSHEN has an exceptional record going right-handed over hurdles and ran well when runner-up to Paisley Park in 3m Kempton Grade 1 on Boxing Day. He isn’t the most straightforward but he is dangerous to rule out knowing what he can do on his day and the ground shouldn’t pose any issue either, so he’s also included.
