Architect Tips shares his Tote Placepot tips for today's action at Newcastle.
18:00 Newcastle
Leg 1 Selections: Appier
APPIER did well to win over course-and-distance in September having been hampered two furlongs from the finish before picking up strongly to win going away once he got into the clear.
His three runs since have been solid and he will be fitter from his return third at Pontefract. Now reunited with Ben Curtis for the first time since they won here last year, another success could well be on the cards. Big chance.

Leg 2 Selections: Purple Ice
On the evidence of his three in-the-frame efforts here last year, PURPLE ICE is thrown in here off a mark of 58 and should be finishing fast and late if they go a good gallop, which is possible with confirmed pacesetters in the field.
He didn’t get the smoothest of passages in two of those but stayed on well to be nearest the finish in each and is four pounds lower in this race. He has an excellent chance to gain a first career success.

Leg 3 Selections: Boldly, Inquiring Minds
Laser Guided ran well when second last time but the form has taken a few knocks since and I’ll side with John and Thady Gosden’s two newcomers.
BOLDLY has a top-class pedigree and gets the services of Jason Watson, so it’ll be interesting to see what the betting makes on his chances.
His stablemate INQUIRING MINDS also makes his debut with the potential to be smart, so it is hard to split the pair and therefore both of them make the team-sheet.

Leg 4 Selections: Profitar Rules, Goblet Of Fire
PROFITAR RULES showed much improved form when winning a handicap at this course last time and the assessor has only put his mark up a couple of pounds which is lenient. Another bold effort looks firmly on the cards.
GOBLET OF FIRE caught the eye when fourth of 13 on nursery debut at Kempton on all-weather debut seven months ago and will make his handicap debut from a low mark here. He has probably been saved for this race since, so he is included with more to offer.

Leg 5 Selections: Covey
It is difficult to oppose odds-on favourite COVEY, who was marginally denied by Zoology on debut before easily going one better at Newmarket next time.
This is an ease in grade and none of the remainder make any appeal, so this son of Frankel gets a vote of confidence, as he should be too good for these.

Leg 6 Selections: Debydinks, Bedazzling
DEBYDINKS found just one too good last time and has now finished runner-up in three of his last five starts. He went close here last March, so he should be thereabouts and who knows, this might be his day.
BEDAZZLING has been poor the last two times but her third over track and trip in December from a six-pound higher mark reads well and is the best piece of form at this course in the field. She has placed in both previous visits here, so she is definite shortlist material.
