Leg 1 Selections: Moktasaab, Crystal Delight

MOKTASAAB never got going when only seventh on his final start last season at Doncaster but he's a much more effective animal on a better surface and he won a big-field handicap on his seasonal reappearance last season.

He was only beaten a neck by Sam Cooke over this trip at Newbury on his penultimate start and is only two pounds higher, so he is a danger to all. CRYSTAL DELIGHT has made a good start to his career and could also be a leading player.

Leg 2 Selections: Makarova, Queen Olly

Ed Walker’s MAKAROVA might lack a run but she’s a tough filly, who enjoyed a productive last year, which culminated with a fine second over course-and-distance to Azure Blue and is essentially three pounds better off this time.

She has finished second in four of her last five starts and could go well at a price. QUEEN OLLY ran well when only a couple of lengths behind Mawj and Lezoo when third in the Group 2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes on the July course. She must have a strong chance back down in trip and class with a run under her belt.

Leg 3 Selections: Chairmanoftheboard, Admiral D

CHAIRMANOFTHEBOARD has lots of useful form in big-field handicaps and came very close to winning this last year when faring best of those held-up, as he came through to take third and be nearest at the finish.

He is six pounds lower this time around and is three pounds below his last winning mark, so he must enter calculations with plenty in his favour. ADMIRAL D ran well on the July course last year when second from a pound higher mark and the combination of cheekpieces plus Jamie Spencer booked to ride could be the catalyst for him to finally get his head in front.

Leg 4 Selections: Saga, Majestic, Howth

SAGA went close in the Britannia at Royal Ascot last year and has finished second in both first-time-out efforts. He should get a strong pace and has sound claims. MAJESTIC ran well in the Lincoln when fourth and also makes the shortlist.

HOWTH catches the eye at a big price, who was having just his second start for Michael Appleby when he closed rapidly from off the pace at Chelmsford to finish second and he is really well-treated off 92 given the fortunate winner is now rated 104. He is an outsider who is worth close consideration.

Leg 5 Selections: Twilight Calls, Equilateral

TWILIGHT CALLS won over track and trip on his return last season and produced solid efforts in defeat afterwards, including when second in the King’s Stand at Royal Ascot.

He is a major player with more to come this season, while EQUILATERAL was second in this in 2019 and ran well when fifth in the King’s Stand on his return last season. If they go at a good pace, there won’t be many travelling better than him. He could be fair value to make the frame.

Leg 6 Selections: Sakheer, Chaldean, Holloway Boy

The feature race, which makes up leg 6 is the 2000 Guineas. SAKHEER made light work of a useful field in the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes and while he has yet to tackle a mile, his shrewd handler is confident he will be suited to it. He travels well, has gears and has more to come, so if he does stay, he could be extremely hard to topple.

A line can be drawn through CHALDEAN’s unseat last time. He was seriously progressive last season and won a Group 1 at this course. He has excellent claims. HOLLOWAY BOY is consistent and is interestingly partnered by Cristophe Soumillon, so a big effort is anticipated given this has been the long-term plan.
