It will take a brilliant ride from Billy Loughnane to win on Jer Batt (best priced at 4/1) from Stall 12 in this race, but he looks impossibly to ignore from 11lbs “well in” at the weights. The David & Nicola Barron trained three-year-old has improved since joining the stable from Ireland and has form figures of 121 so far this season.

Jer Batt won easily by 3 ¾ lengths at Musselburgh 10 days ago in an apprentice handicap under Billy Loughnane and the handicapper has raised him 11lbs for that victory up to a mark of 91. He instead runs here off a mark of 80 in this race and I expect him to prove hard to beat if getting a bit of luck in running.

Jer Batt - 1pt @ 4/1

Both You Owe Me Money and Miss Abby Jools are respected following their wins last time but I am willing to take a chance on The Shootlist (best priced at 40/1) at a huge price. The Luke Comer trained six-year-old has been extremely lightly raced in his career with only three starts and he makes his handicap debut off an opening mark of 68.

The Shootlist finished a close 4th on his penultimate start at Dundalk when only beaten 2 ¼ lengths over a mile when staying on well at the finish on his reappearance. This step up in trip to 1m1½f should suit him well and I expect him to outrun his odds with six places available.

The Shootlist - 0.5pts e/w @ 40/1

Both Vaguely Royal and Shadow Dance (best priced at 2/1) set the standard in this maiden but preference goes to the latter who has the benefit of a recent run. The Roger Varian trained colt was only beaten 1 ¼ lengths at Windsor on his debut on soft ground but on breeding he should be well suited by this better ground.

Shadow Dance is well drawn in Stall 3 to get a prominent position under David Egan and I expect him to get off the mark at the second attempt.

Shadow Dance - 1pt @ 2/1
