Leg 1 Selections: Vespasian, What’s In The Bag

VESPASIAN has only been out of the frame three times in 12 starts and has run really good races the last two times to finish second, including last time in first-time cheekpieces. From the same mark, he could go one better.

I wouldn’t rule out WHAT'S IN THE BAG though, who improved on previous form to win over course-and-distance when last spotted and although he hasn’t been seen since, he could go well on his reappearance if tuned up in leg 1.

Leg 2 Selections: Bits And Bobs, Perfect View

I am keen to take on those with experience who need improvement in leg 2 and instead I’ll side with two debutants.

Firstly, BITS AND BOBS who is related to plenty of winners and could be ready to make an impact for the in-form Andrew Balding team.

PERFECT VIEW has a good rider on his back and is George Scott’s only runner on the card. I’ll be surprised if one or both don’t figure.

Leg 3 Selections: Too Much Trevor, Kento

TOO MUCH TREVOR made a sluggish start on debut at Leicester but did manage to get past Old Chums despite proving no match for the winner. Alice Haynes’ charge should know more about his job this time and is fancied to have a say in the outcome in leg 3.

Tom Clover has done well with debutants previously and KENTO could be set to run a big race, especially if the market speaks in his favour, which can often be a pointer as to what we might expect .

Leg 4 Selections: Blackrod, May Sonic

BLACKROD wasn’t disgraced in a much stronger race at Newmarket last-time-out and is a pound lower than when gaining his only handicap success last April, which came in a much stronger race. His peak form would see him a big player in this line-up.

The Charlie Hills-trained MAY SONIC has course-and-distance winning form and defied a three pounds higher mark on the all-weather in January, so he certainly has a chance of his revised mark on the turf back down in grade. William Buick rides.

Leg 5 Selections: Gentle Light, Value Added

GENTLE LIGHT contested a deep-looking race on debut at Newbury, where she did some late progress to grab third. The winner has subsequently run well in a Listed event at York, so there’s a chance this daughter of Frankel will take some beating with that experience to draw upon.

As cover, I’ll also add VALUE ADDED, who also left plenty to work on when third on debut at Newbury as well and is open to a lot more improvement, so she’s also included.

Leg 6 Selections: Lexington Knight, Pride Of Nepal

Richard Hannon’s LEXINGTON KNIGHT won his only start at the course and has been running consistently well on the all-weather since finishing down the field in a deeper race at Ffos Las back in September. He could take a hand in the final analysis.

PRIDE OF NEPAL has a win and a second from three starts at this course and ran well to take the runner-up spot behind a big improver last time. He needs consideration.
