Leg 1 Selections: Papal Music, Enborne, Double Down

Clive Cox’s PAPAL MUSIC ran well under a big weight on handicap debut at Wolverhampton when third and was second over course-and-distance on his penultimate start. This mark of 66 looks very exploitable on the evidence of his form to date, so he enters the mix.

ENBORNE ran poorly at Brighton last time but did shape well when fourth on handicap debut at this course two starts back and is drawn well in stall 3, while DOUBLE DOWN went close here in March and will go close if able to back up his latest eye-catching fourth at Salisbury.

Leg 2 Selections: Warning Sign, Two Tempting, Farasi Lane

This race is difficult. However, one of the outsiders WARNING SIGN could offer a bit of value in the hope we can navigate our way to the next race. He hasn’t figured in all four starts for connections but is on a lenient mark and his 10th of 22 in the Spring Mile two starts ago reads well. He is drawn well in stall 6 and should have more to offer, so he’s included at large odds.

TWO TEMPTING will find this easier than the race he contested at Ascot and his record at this course is strong - reading 22142. He was a good second on his last visit here over track and trip and is ideally slotted in stall 2. He has leading claims, as does FARASI LANE, who is only a pound higher than when winning a better race at Southwell.

Leg 3 Selections: Forever a Diamond, Lincoln Legacy

FOREVER A DIAMOND was behind Sparklight on debut but did make late progress to snatch fifth and is sure to improve on that form going up in trip in this event. She might be able to reverse the form.

LINCOLN LEGACY is sure to attract attention being the mount of Oisin Murphy for the Charlie Johnston team. Stall 10 isn’t ideal but her connections know how to get one ready first time out.

Leg 4 Selections: Another Thought, Timely Escape

ANOTHER THOUGHT had her debut third boosted by the second Milteye who bolted at Bath a couple of days ago. This filly then beat an odds-on favourite when last seen and will probably bring about further improvement over this seven furlongs distance. She’s the one to beat.

TIMELY ESCAPE is related to several winners and Charlie Hills is prone to doing well with newcomers. She could fare best of the newcomers and is worth inclusion as cover to the former under PJ Mcdonald.

Leg 5 Selections: Glory Sky, Kitten Gloves

Richard Hannon’s GLORY SKY didn’t look short of potential when fourth of nine of debut at Bath and took a step forward from that experience to finish second at Wetherby. She surely goes close here from a lovely slot in stall 4.

KITTEN GLOVES is another filly worthy of interest, who defied big odds to finish second at Wolverhampton on debut. The winner who had the benefit of experience looks useful, so she’s sure to build on that effort on just her second career start and gets a nice slow in stall 6.

Leg 6 Selections: Solar Orbiter, Soar Above

SOLAR ORBITER is unbeaten in two starts and has won both of his starts easily. He makes his handicap debut off a nice mark of 85 and could be pattern-class bound on the evidence of what he has displayed so far. He has to concede fitness but that shouldn’t be a concern as he won smoothly on debut and could be hard to beat as he bids to remain undefeated.

SOAR ABOVE ran well when third over track and trip last time in a slightly stronger race and his overall record here is really good. He is an eight-time course winner, who is five pounds below his last winning mark and is drawn well in stall five, so he is the most appealing runner of the bigger priced participants.
