Lots of the horses in this 0-60 handicap are struggling for recent form but that is not the case for BIG TIME MAYBE (best priced at 5/2) who bids to complete a hat-trick. The Phil McEntee trained eight-year-old had dropped down to career low mark of 47 when winning by 2 ¼ lengths at Lingfield on his penultimate start before following up over this course and distance a week ago off a mark of 54.

Big Time Maybe runs here under a 4lb penalty for a nose success so he isn’t chucked in under a penalty but this looks a weak race. He is a four-time course and distance winner here from eight starts and hopefully he can further enhance that impressive record in this race.

The lightly raced DESTINED (best priced at 15/8) won on her reappearance at Redcar and she should hold strong claims on her handicap debut off an opening mark of 70. The Michael Dods trained three-year-old ran well to finish a close 2nd on her debut at Ripon before finishing 3rd at Newcastle on her next start in November.

Destined returned from a 170 day break to win easily by 3 ¼ lengths in a 15 runner Redcar novice race last time and on that run an opening mark of 70 looks lenient. Callum Rodriguez takes over in the saddle and she should be able to follow up her recent success from 26 days ago.

Gallimimus would be respected if he were to run under a 6lb penalty from his success last night but preference instead goes to URBAN CHAMPION (best priced at 6/1) who showed much improved form on his handicap debut last time Wolverhampton. The Richard Phillips trained three-year-old had showed very little on his first three starts when he achieved form figures of 000 when sent off 250/1, 250/1 and 125/1.

Urban Champion returned from a 164 day break in a first time hood having been gelded and had a wind operation and was well backed into 11/2 to make a winning handicap debut off a mark of 54. He finished 2nd behind the favourite Blue Yonder that day but finished 1 ¾ lengths clear of the third and the handicapper has only raised him 1lb for that run. If he can transfer that improved form to turf then he should prove hard to beat with Tom Marquand taking over on board and four places on offer.
