Steve Ryder is back with four tips for today's action.
14:15 Carlisle
This looks a competitive 0-80 handicap but preference goes to the Bryan Smart trained Princess Karine (best priced at 5/2) who was only beaten a short head over this course and distance 11 days ago. The four-year-old has been in consistently good form this year with form figures of 3322 and she should be deserving of going one better in this race.
Princess Karine was only beaten ½ length at Newcastle on her penultimate start off a mark of 70 before finishing a short head 2nd over this course and distance last time off the same mark. The handicapper has raised her 3lbs for that effort but she gets to run here off the same mark meaning that she is 3lbs “well in” at the weights. Paul Mulrennan retains the ride and hopefully he can go one better than his previous two rides on her.
14:35 Epsom
The Richard Spencer trained Revich (best priced at 13/2) was a winner for the column last time at Chester and he should hold strong claims despite racing off a 6lb higher mark. The seven-year-old has form figures of 12 at Epsom in his career including when 2nd in this race last season off a mark of 95.
Revich won by three lengths last time at Chester staying on strongly over 7½f off a mark of 92 and he should hold strong claims off a mark of 98. He was only beaten 1 ¾ lengths off this career high mark back in 2020 so it shouldn’t be beyond him and he should run well with up to five places available.
17:10 Epsom
Having tipped Olivia Maralda (best priced at 10/3) at a big price for the 1000 Guineas last time I was thrilled with how she was travelling 2f out before she weakened late on to finish 7th. The Roger Varian trained filly outran odds of 125/1 to finish less than four lengths behind the 3rd placed Matilda Picotte that day despite the mile trip and soft ground being against her.
Both the return to 7f and the return to better ground should suit Olivia Maralda and she should prove hard to beat in receipt weight from both Holguin and Streets Of Gold.
17:55 Catterick
This looks a weak 0-65 handicap and it looks a good opportunity for Golden Gal (best priced at 7/4) to go one better than over this course and distance eight days ago. The Ollie Pears trained four-year-old has been running consistently well this year since returning from wind surgery where she has finished 4th, 3rd and 2nd over this course and distance.
Golden Gal has only been beaten ½ length on her previous two starts both off marks of 55 and she should prove hard to beat off the same mark once again. She races here 2lbs “well in” at the weights and is also fitted with first time cheekpieces in this race and hopefully this dual course winner can go one better in this race.
