Following a 17/2 winner yesterday, Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's action.
15:15 Ayr
Both Fifty Sent and ST ANDREW'S CASTLE (best priced at 11/4) come into the race following a victory last time but preference goes to the latter whose came over this course and distance. The Jim Goldie trained four-year-old started this season running over 6f but has gradually gone up in trip winning over 7f at Newcastle in March off a mark of 55.
St Andrew’s Castle defied odds of 12/1 to win over this course and distance last time when staying on well under Jonny Peate to win by ½ length. The handicapper has raised him 3lbs for that victory which is fair and hopefully he can make it 2/2 over this distance.
16:00 Thirsk
SUMMER SANDS (best priced at 11/1) continues to drop significantly in the ratings and a chance is taken on him now dropped into a Class 5 0-75 handicap for the first time. The six-year-old finished 3rd in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes in 2019 before winning the listed Two Year Old Trophy at Redcar on his next start. He was bought and transferred to Joseph O’Brien but he has failed to win a race since.
Summer Sands returned to the Richard Fahey yard in 2021 and has run well twice including when only beaten 2 lengths and 2 ¼ lengths at Ayr last season off marks of 84 and 85. He returns following 251 days off and he looks worth taking a chance on now dropping into a Class 5 0-75 handicap for the first time off a mark of 76.
16:20 Listowel
This looks a competitive five-runner chase but preference goes to EASY GAME (best priced at 11/10) who has won his previous three starts and has a good record at Listowel. The Willie Mullins trained nine-year-old has won seven of his previous eight starts with his only defeat coming in the Galway Plate last season. He won at Fairyhouse in April by a wide margin following the fall of stablemate Janidil at the last fence which followed up two victories over Kemboy earlier in the season at Listowel and Gowran Park.
Easy Game has form figures of 2111 at Listowel so we know he handles the track well and he should be good enough to concede 10lbs to Aintree winner Dancing On My Own.
