Architect Tips shares his Tote Placepot tips for today's action at Newbury.
14:00 Newbury
Leg 1 Selections: Cherry Hill, Mapmaker
CHERRY HILL was up with the pace throughout on debut at Windsor before finding no extra in the closing stages. Still, there was a lot to like about her performance and she has plenty more to come, so she’s a leading player. MAPMAKER also ran very well on debut when third at Redcar and given her owners have been in great form this season, she’s definitely of interest.

Leg 2 Selections: There’s No Limit, D Point
THERE’S NO LIMIT wasn’t knocked about on debut at Pontefract but he shaped well to finish third and should improve a lot from that outing, so is fancied to go well under James Doyle. I wouldn’t rule out a decent showing from newcomer D POINT though, who has a smashing pedigree and could be ready to run a big race from a good draw.

Leg 3 Selections: Soldier’s Gold, Son
SOLDIER’S GOLD caught the eye on debut at Haydock in what was a strong-looking maiden for the class, where he was always up with the pace before getting outpaced and then staying on strongly again in the closing stages. He will have learnt a lot from that experience and could have a say in the outcome. SON shaped well on debut at Ascot when third and is another who is likely to improve with that experience under his belt.

Leg 4 Selections: Hydration, Sergeant Tibbs
HYDRATION improved from his debut to score on his second start at Kempton and ran well on his return at Windsor when third in a higher-grade event. With that run under his belt, Roger Charlton’s charge is the one to beat. Of the rest, SERGEANT TIBBS is also eased in grade and a repeat of his neck second at Ascot would have him leading claims.

Leg 5 Selections: Ludmilla, Eximious
LUDMILLA was a close-up third in a strong race for the grade on debut at Newmarket and hasn’t been disgraced in both starts at the course since either. She must have a strong chance in this race, while EXIMIOUS beat a subsequent winner at Salisbury after a good second on debut and will find this easier than the Group 2 she contested at Newmarket last-time-out.

Leg 6 Selections: Lmay
LMAY produced a promising first start to her career when second at Haydock and while she found the step up in grade to Listed company too much next time, she didn’t disgrace herself by any means. This is a lot easier, so she should prove extremely hard to beat. Either way, it would come as a surprise if she wasn’t in the frame.
