Leg 1 Selections: Climate Precedent, Eastern Charm

CLIMATE PRECEDENT wasn’t beaten far in a much stronger race than this when fourth last-time-out after being slow into stride and will find this race easier from a two pounds lower mark. I think he has a great chance, while the only last-time-out winner EASTERN CHARM has an obvious chance if able to back up that latest course-and-distance success.

Leg 2 Selections: Novation, Seven Questions

NOVATION has not been beaten far in each of his two starts to date in finishing fourth and should appreciate the ease in grade. He should be thereabouts at the very least, though SEVEN QUESTIONS would have gone close on debut at Redcar without a bad start and could improve enough to win this if starting better. He is a major contender.

Leg 3 Selections: Tolstoy, Society Lion

TOLSTOY won over course-and-distance on debut and was rated as high 96 last year. He signalled a possible return to form when only beaten a couple of lengths last time and it’s only a matter of time before cashes-in on his reduced mark at a low level. SOCIETY LION was only beaten a neck at Newmarket last time and despite going back up three pounds, he’s feared under Hollie Doyle.

Leg 4 Selections: Million Thanks, Discretion

MILLION THANKS couldn’t justify favouritism last-time-out at Newmarket but went close off only a pound lower mark in April and isn’t out of this with the course expected to suit. I’ll also cover DISCRETION, who was only beaten a couple of lengths in this grade at Kempton when last seen and has a chance now returned to the grass.

Leg 5 Selections: Corsican Caper, Denis Anthony

CORSICAN CAPER has made the frame the last two times and remains on the same mark as when only beaten around three lengths at Haydock when last spotted. He wouldn’t need to improve much on that form to go well in this company, meanwhile DENIS ANTHONY produced his best run to date when second at Lingfield last-time-out and a repeat of that performance, with more to come, could see him go one better.

Leg 6 Selections: Come On John, Mr Marvlos

COME ON JOHN has been revitalised the last twice, winning at Wolverhampton before following up at Brighton when last seen. This isn’t a strong race, so the three-timer could well be on the cards. MR MARVLOS hasn’t been beaten far in each of his last two starts and isn’t out of this from a mark he is surely capable of winning from at some point.
