Leg 1 Selections: Sir Sedric, Penny Be, Bluebell Way

Low-graded stuff at Windsor this evening and the opener wouldn’t be a race I have a strong opinion on but SIR SEDRIC is 17Ib below his last winning mark and the application of a first-time visor could spark a revival. If it does, he’s got a squeak with a 5Ib apprentice in the saddle. PENNY BE also needs consideration after a good third off this mark last time with Harry Davies booked to ride, while BLUEBELL WAY is on a dangerous-looking mark and could also be competitive.

Leg 2 Selections: Glen Heste, Red Zone Hero

Not a lot to go on here with most of these being newcomers but GLEN HESTE is related to several winners and David Evans knows how to prepare a debutant. This newcomer could be ready to play a leading role, though RED ZONE HERO is another interesting debutant, who represents the in-form Michael Bell team with Tom Marquand taking the ride. He isn’t one to be underestimated.

Leg 3 Selections: Garden Route

GARDEN ROUTE should take some beating in this contest. He has shown promise in both starts to date and has undergone wind surgery since being touched off by only a neck at Kempton. He is likely to be fully-prepared for his return to action and can hand Tom Marquand another winner at this fixture. He is a red-hot favourite and the one to beat.

Leg 4 Selections: Live In The Moment, A Sure Welcome

LIVE IN THE MOMENT ran well when second off this mark last-time-out and is 2Ib lower than when last successful. The blinkers are reapplied and the step up in trip is a positive move, so he’s sure to be thereabouts. A SURE WELCOME is a three-time course winner, who’s last win was over course-and-distance from a 5Ib higher mark. The nine-year-old must enter calculations from a handy mark at this level.

Leg 5 Selections: Alpina Express

ALPINA EXPRESS has been on a roll of late, winning her last two starts easily, and both of those wins have come in handicap company. I know she has been hit with an 8Ib rise but I don’t think it will prevent her from completing the hat-trick, as she has more to come and might be able to dictate matters against these. She is the one to beat, even with her penalty. Hurtle might emerge as the threat but the former can take her measure.

Leg 6 Selections: Morcar, Montevideo

MORCAR has improved with each start and caught the eye when fourth at Doncaster earlier this month. The combination of this longer trip and a fair opening handicap debut mark should see her in the mix in this poor race. MONTEVIDEO has run really well the last two times in much stronger events and makes her handicap debut from an attractive mark as well. She could be tough to pass with improvement on the cards.
