Andy Holding is back with two tips for today's action, with runners at Ballinrobe and Windsor.
18:45 Ballinrobe
PONT AUDAMER (best price 3/1) has been putting in some decent shifts over hurdles of late and, hailing from a team who had a memorable week at Royal Ascot, the good time vibes are set to continue for Gavin Cromwell.
A cosy winner on just his second start in handicap company during the winter, the four-year-old grey has yet to add another one to the plus column in three starts since, but each effort has been tinged with the odd excuse. At Clonmel last time out for instance, he was set a task which was almost impossible to overcome but to his great credit he managed to rescue some respectability from the situation to finish a close third in a race which has subsequently worked out well.
Yet to run for current connections on the Flat, the four-year-old grey rates one of the more interesting runners on tonight’s card and he is worth a small interest to see whether he has some mileage in him switching codes.
19:40 Windsor
MORCAR (best price 4/1) ran way better than expected in a hot novice event at Doncaster last time out and now in among horses that are not likely to be shooting for the moon, Richard Hannon’s inmate has a decent chance of being extremely competitive on handicap debut.
Having his first start on turf after a couple of no-shows on the all-weather, the son of Saxon Warrior was one of four horses who ploughed a lone furrow over on the far side on Town Moor and although he only ended up beating one of the quartet home, the time figure of the race suggested he had run to a fair standard.
The type to improve as he gains more experience and steps up in trip, an opening mark seems more than workable, and he looks where the value lies when assessing the early morning market skirmishes.
