Tuesday Racing Tips from Andy Holding

SATIN SNAKE (best price 7/2) has been a busy boy since the turn of the year but based on his latest effort over today’s C&D he is still holding his form together and he looks to have a decent chance of going well again now returning to Class 5 company. 

A winner of four all-weather races, three coming at Kempton in recent times, in contrast Adrian Keatley’s gelding was 0-6 on turf heading into his latest encounter at the Yorkshire track and although the result was probably not quite what connections were hoping for, a close-up fourth in a well-run and competitive eight-runner affair was more than respectable. 

Indeed, time figure-wise, he ran right up to some of his best numbers he had posted during his most productive period and a repeat of something similar should be good enough to see the son of Aclaim vying for top honours.

AURORA DAWN (NAP) (best price 3/1) came unstuck when a warm order to follow up her previous success at Haydock last time out, but at the same time she was by no means disgraced and she is well worth another chance to bounce back returning to her optimum trip. 

A hugely impressive winner of a competitive seven-furlong handicap at Newmarket two starts ago, it was understandable why Ed Walker’s filly was made an odds-on poke at the Merseyside venue a week later, but as is sometimes case at that track, trying to execute patient hold-up tactics is not so straightforward. 
Although she worked herself into a challenging position two furlongs from home, at the same time Pearl Eye had gathered up a nice head of steam and it was a deficit which she could not quite overcome in the closing stages. 

Back over seven-furlongs, a straight track, and hailing from a yard who have struck a rich vein of form in the last fortnight, the daughter of Awtaad has enough in her favour to warrant her being a confident choice to defy top weight.
