Leg 1 Selections: Star Of Lady M

The first of today's Placepot Tips STAR OF LADY M was caught too wide when only sixth at Redcar last-time-out and is the class act in this field. She has undoubtedly been competing against much superior opposition and is unbeaten in two starts in this grade.

She was third in the Listed Ripon Champion Two Yrs Old Trophy Stakes last year, splitting horses rated 100+ and that is by far and large the best form on offer. Down in grade, coupled with a three pounds lower mark than last time, she should be too good for these.

Leg 2 Selections: Acer

The Clive Cox-trained ACER left plenty to work on when third over course-and-distance on debut two weeks ago, where she was slowly away but once she found her stride, she stayed on strongly in the closing stages.

The winner has let the form down since but this daughter of the high-class Harry Angel will be wiser to the task ahead this time and should be capable of winning a race such as this with Rossa Ryan retained to ride.

Leg 3 Selections: Cherry

Ralph Beckett’s CHERRY has shown plenty of promise in placing in both her starts to date and pulled clear of the rest when second to Long Ago at Chelmsford last month. The form has been boosted with the winner scoring again since.

This race is a drop in grade and she should have plenty more to come back on the turf after a solid third on debut. There’s lots to like about her chances and it would come as a surprise if she couldn’t at least make the frame for the third time.

Leg 4 Selections: Lethal Nymph, Aphelios

LETHAL NYMPH could only muster a fifth place at Nottingham last-time-out but his win at Ascot is very strong form and he shaped well on his reappearance at this course two starts back. I can see him bouncing back and hitting the frame.

APHELIOS chased home the former at Ascot and won his sole start over course-and-distance last May. His latest start was the first time he’s been out of the top three in 13 starts and it can be excused as it was his reappearance. With that run under his belt, he’s a leading player.

Leg 5 Selections: Raqisa

RAQISA gets the vote to potentially land the fifth race, who won at Yarmouth in May and was a good second behind Mr Freedom over course-and-distance three weeks ago in a stronger race.

This is pretty strong form for this grade given the winner has scored again since. From only a pound higher mark, Amy Murphy’s charge is expected to give another good account of herself.

Leg 6 Selections: Thrave, Starry Eyes

THRAVE is recognised more as a being a better horse on the all-weather with his last win coming off an eight pounds higher mark on that surface but he’s on a career-low mark and has been running better than the beaten margins have suggested or late. He could go well.

It’s been a long time since STARRY EYES last got her head in front but Tom Marquand has been booked to ride and she is 18 pounds lower than when last successful. This is a very poor contest, so this is a good chance for her to bounce back to form.
