Leg 1 Selections: Tessy Lad, They Don’t Know

TESSY LAD should have the measure of Tralee Hills over this distance. The former has won three of his last six starts and despite dead-heating last time, he’s only three pounds higher here. He is likely to be up with the pace and should go well, while THEY DON’T KNOW has made the frame in 11 of his 23 starts and even though he surprisingly remains a maiden, his consistency is surely going to reward him with success at some point, maybe in this race.

Leg 2 Selections: Cloud Free

CLOUD FREE was two places in front of Sahara Kitten when second on debut at Beverley. This son of Sea The Stars was unlucky not to win as well, as he came from miles off the pace to only be beaten a neck. He’ll know a lot more today and is fancied to go one better.

Leg 3 Selections: Tyger Bay, Count Otto

TYGER BAY has already finished in front of Lil Guff yet the former is three times the odds of the latter. He’s back on his last winning mark and has already placed four times this year off marks in the 80’s. He’s a leading contender, while COUNT OTTO has a good record at this course and this former course-and-distance winner could make the most of this career-low mark back at his favourite venue.

Leg 4 Selections: Marlay Park, Above

MARLAY PARK ran a big race when third over course-and-distance in a much stronger race when last seen and the assessor has surprisingly reduced his mark a pound. His last win was off this mark over track and trip and from a good slot in stall five, he’s surely going to be right in the mix at least. ABOVE has won and placed off higher marks and has been given a good chance by the handicapper.

Leg 5 Selections: Balgair

The nine-year-old BALGAIR went close at Lingfield last-time-out and is five pounds lower than when last successful. He came close to winning here last July when carrying a monster weight from that five pounds higher mark and this race is easier. Tom Marquand has been booked to ride and, with everything seemingly to suit, Tom Clover’s charge should be hard to beat.

Leg 6 Selections: Angels Roc, Iron Heart

Something was clearly amiss when ANGELS ROC was pulled up last-time-out but he did win twice last year, including at this course when beating higher-rated opponents and a repeat of that success would definitely see him competitive in this race. He’s worth another chance and I’ll also play IRON HEART, who’s fallen to a dangerous-looking mark and is thrown in here should he produce his best.

How does a Placepot work?

The more people who play the Placepot at a given meeting, the larger the pool will be. If less people find the winning combination across the six races, the bigger the winning dividend will be.

When placing your Tote Placepot bet, you can choose whether to make one or more selections in each race, which are referred to as lines.

Adding multiple lines in a race increases your chances of picking a horse that places. However, your total stake is determined ‘per line’, so the more lines you place the higher the stake will be.

To work out how much you have won, multiply your stake per line by the amount of winning lines you have. Your winnings will then be either that percentage of the published £1-stake winnings or a multiple of the published dividend.
