Leg 1 Selections: Bluebell Time, Penguin Island

This is a wide-open race but maybe BLUEBELL TIME will be able to get back to winning ways, who’s six pounds below her last winning mark and has run well in all three starts this year. She must be thereabouts at this level.

Of the rest, PENGUIN ISLAND was only beaten a nostril by a 76-rated rival back in August last year off this exact mark and it is only a matter of time before she deservedly gets her head in front. This could be the time she does.

Leg 2 Selections: Miss Show Off

MISS SHOW OFF ran a big race on her debut at Sandown, where she was only denied by a neck and that form has substance with the fourth, Flora Of Bermuda, running well to take sixth in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes.

Her fourth at Nottingham has also worked out nicely with the winner Beautiful Diamond finishing third in that aforementioned race at Royal Ascot. With plenty more to come, and this race looking easier, Clix Cox’s filly has an excellent chance to open her account.

Leg 3 Selections: Boyfriend

The Richard Hannon-trained BOYFRIEND went down on his shield on debut at Windsor, where he was only beaten a neck. That form has worked out well with the winner scoring again since and the third wasn’t disgraced in the Chesham at Royal Ascot.

This race is littered with potential with a host of newcomers to note but he has more to come and could go one better. Even if he doesn’t succeed, he should easily be capable of making the frame again and gets the sole vote.

Leg 4 Selections: Count Palatine

COUNT PALATINE made a promising start to his career when fifth in a deep-looking race for the grade at Windsor and that form is strong, as the third and fourth have won since, while the second, Inquisitively, was last seen finishing third in the Windsor Castle.

Brian Meehan’s charge was highly tried in the Chesham Stakes and although he could only finish down the field, this is a massive ease in class and he’s strongly fancied to go close.

Leg 5 Selections: Youarenotforgiven

YOUARENOTFORGIVEN has shown a liking for Leicester with two wins from two starts and smoothly accounted for a decent field at that course last time.

He has been hit with a five pound rise as a result but that shouldn’t prevent another bold as he’s unbeaten in two starts over seven furlongs and this race should be run to suit. He has to be included with the momentum on his side and with probably more to offer over this distance.

Leg 6 Selections: La Maquina

LA MAQUINA could be the answer to this contest, whose last win came off a seven pound higher mark in a higher grade race. He’s been running consistently in defeat since and caught the eye in a better race than this last time when fifth, doing his best work in the closing stages.

I like the booking of Pierre-Louis Jamin, who can claim his three pounds, and with his stable amongst the winners of late, he enters the reckoning off a mark he is more than capable of defying should he get the run of the race.

How does a Placepot work?

The more people who play the Placepot at a given meeting, the larger the pool will be. If less people find the winning combination across the six races, the bigger the winning dividend will be.

When placing your Tote Placepot bet, you can choose whether to make one or more selections in each race, which are referred to as lines.

Adding multiple lines in a race increases your chances of picking a horse that places. However, your total stake is determined ‘per line’, so the more lines you place the higher the stake will be.

To work out how much you have won, multiply your stake per line by the amount of winning lines you have. Your winnings will then be either that percentage of the published £1-stake winnings or a multiple of the published dividend.
