This looks a competitive 0-85 three-year-old handicap but preference goes to KUWAIT CITY (best priced at 11/2) who was an unlucky beaten favourite last time at Ayr. The John Butler trained gelding defied odds of 28/1 to win at York on his penultimate start off a mark of 79 before finishing a close 3rd last time off a mark of 85.

Kuwait City was slowly away that day and was only beaten ¾ lengths at the finish when a never nearer 3rd. The handicapper has left him on a mark of 85 and he should prove hard to beat in this race.

The Sir Mark Prescott trained PLEDGEOFALLEGIANCE (best priced at 9/2) has won both of his starts over 1m6f and he should hold strong claims of completing a hat-trick of wins. The three-year-old son of Sea The Stars has shown improvement since going handicapping following a gelding operation with form figures of 211.

Pledgeofallegiance is 2/2 over 1m6f and also since being fitted with first time cheekpieces following victories at both Redcar and Doncaster. The handicapper has raised the gelding 7lbs for his latest victory which is fair and he should hold strong claims in this race.

INDEMNIFY (best priced at 7/1) won the Whitsun Cup over this course and distance last time and he should hold strong claims off a 5lb higher mark on his stable debut for Alice Haynes. The four-year-old has been bought for £125,000 following that victory and has been transferred out of the Roger Varian yard to Alice Haynes.

Indemnify kept on well over a mile here last time staying on well at the finish to win by 1 ½ lengths and is deserving of a 5lb raise from the handicapper. Kieran O’Neill takes over on board and this progressive gelding should go well.

This looks a competitive 0-105 handicap but preference goes to MUSTAZEED (best priced at 5/1) who has won both of his starts since joining Harry Eustace. The five-year-old joined the yard from Chris Wall rated 77 where he won on his reappearance at Newbury by ¾ length. He followed up off a 6lb higher mark on his next start winning by a short head under Hayley Turner off a mark of 83 and he should hold strong claims off a 5lb higher mark.

Mustazeed beat Sweet Reward by a short head last time and that rival won on Wednesday off a 3lb higher mark so a 5lb rise for Mustazeed could prove lenient. He ran well to finish 3rd on his only other start at the course and he should hold strong claims of making it 3/3 for the yard.

Ski Jump boasts the best recent form following his recent course and distance victory but preference goes to MASCANI (best priced at 7/4) who could prove well treated off an opening mark of 59. The Grant Tuer trained three-year-old has finished well beaten on all three of his career starts to date in novice/maiden company but those have all come over 7f and 6f on soft/heavy ground.

Mascani now goes up in trip to 1m2f for the first time on his handicap debut off an opening mark of 59 and that should see improvement from him. Connections have booked Benoit De La Sayette for the ride and I expect him to get off the mark in this race.
