Leg 1 Selections: Real Gain, Insanity

The Richard Hughes-trained REAL GAIN overcame a wide draw to make a successful debut at Kempton and that form has been greatly advertised since with the second and third returning next-time-out winners.

This son of Profitable hasn’t been seen since but he’s clearly got a lot of ability and could be hard to beat on his return. INSANITY would have won with a clear run on debut at Windsor last month as he was only beaten a neck and is feared most under the assistance of William Buick.

Leg 2 Selections: Eastern Charm

The second race looks to revolve around EASTERN CHARM, who doubled her tally for the year when winning with loads in hand at Yarmouth and this race is no harder.

She should be arriving here with straight wins, as she had no clear run when fourth on her penultimate start but still made amends last time and the ceiling of her ability and mark has surely not been reached.

She is drawn well in stall 4 and Tom Marquand is back in the saddle. She should be extremely hard to beat.

Leg 3 Selections: Sir Oliver, Onight

SIR OLIVER has a good record at this course and won over course-and-distance last July off a four pounds higher mark. He’s a very capable horse on his day and is wildly overpriced at double-figure odds.

ONIGHT fluffed his lines on his turf debut but his two-from-three on the all-weather and was right in behind the 104-rated Desert Cop on debut. He’s got a big chance off this really attractive mark.

Leg 4 Selections: Heredia, Internationalangel

A wide-open Listed event, which is the feature race of the day, and HEREDIA could go very well on her all-weather debut. She won her first four starts, including at Royal Ascot, and has finished second in a pair of Listed events in her two starts this year. She’s drawn very well in stall 2 and is more than capable of winning a race at this level.

At bigger odds, INTERNATIONALANGEL has been overlooked which seems unfair. She’s a four-time course-and-distance winner and was a close-up third in the Fillies' & Mares' Listed AW Championships Fast-Track Qualifier on her last go on the surface. I think she has a great place chance at the very least if anywhere near her best.

Leg 5 Selections: Media Guest, Ben Hamresh

MEDIA GUEST has been doing all of his racing in higher-grade events and his only previous win was off a 10 pounds higher mark in a class 4 event. She’s reached the frame a few times since off higher marks and is now down to a career-low mark in a class 6 for the first time in this race. A seven-pound claimer is booked to ride and he’s got a decent chance.

BEN HAMRESH is another who drops in grade and ran a pretty decent race on handicap debut at Lingfield when third. The form of his fourth at Kempton is quality form in the context of this grade and Tom Marquand gets the ride. He is definitely the other one to consider.

Leg 6 Selections: Cuban Breeze

A chance is taken on top-weight CUBAN BREEZE, who has plenty of speed and was a good fourth in a much stronger race than this at Chester eight days ago. His last win was off a two pounds higher mark in a better race and he’s drawn well in stall 4 here. He is a better horse on the turf but even so, he’s surely going to be thereabouts in this weaker race than last time.

How does a Placepot work?

The more people who play the Placepot at a given meeting, the larger the pool will be. If less people find the winning combination across the six races, the bigger the winning dividend will be.

When placing your Tote Placepot bet, you can choose whether to make one or more selections in each race, which are referred to as lines.

Adding multiple lines in a race increases your chances of picking a horse that places. However, your total stake is determined ‘per line’, so the more lines you place the higher the stake will be.

To work out how much you have won, multiply your stake per line by the amount of winning lines you have. Your winnings will then be either that percentage of the published £1-stake winnings or a multiple of the published dividend.
