Architect Tips shares Tote Placepot tips for today's action at Ripon and yesterday's Placepot Results from Chelmsford.
18:15 Ripon
Leg 1 Selections: Catton Lady, Geologist
CATTON LADY defied large odds of 33/1 to make a successful debut at Carlisle in which she had Bellarchi back in third. She wasn’t in the same form when fourth over course-and-distance next time but retains potential and should be thereabouts.
GEOLOGIST was highly-tried in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot after going close on debut at Redcar and is another to consider.
18:50 Ripon
Leg 2 Selections: Kathab
This should prove to be a straightforward task for KATHAB, who’s been competing in stronger events so far and was a good second to Passenger on debut at Newmarket. That is the best form on offer in the field, while his third at York next time reads well too.
He wasn’t in the same form at Sandown when last seen but connections have found him an excellent opportunity to open his account. He is Jim Crowley’s only ride on the card.
19:20 Ripon
Leg 3 Selections: Global Spirit, Cosmos Raj
There might not be a better handicapped horse than GLOBAL SPIRIT in this race. The eight-year-old is six pounds below his last winning mark and has already placed twice this year off that higher mark.
He wasn’t beaten far here last time in a stronger event and has a chance, while COSMOS RAJ is the other well-handicapped horse in the race, who’s a past course-and-distance winner and was a good second at this course last time.
19:55 Ripon
Leg 4 Selections: Baryshnikov, Coco Jack
BARYSHNIKOV is a terrific servant for connections, who hardly runs a bad race and is evidently in good form of late again, making the frame in four of his last five starts. He is a pound lower than when winning a stronger race at Chester last July and is expected to make a bold bid off top-weight.
COCO JACK wasn’t discredited in the Golden Gates last time and went close in the Edinburgh Cup two starts back off a pound lower mark. He looks competitive on form.
20:30 Ripon
Leg 5 Selections: Alex The Great, Future Times
Hayley Turner comes here for one ride onboard ALEX THE GREAT, a son of Camelot, who’s not been involved in each of his four starts but has a good chance off this mark.
He ran his best race to date on handicap debut at Lingfield when a never-nearer fifth and should be able to produce a bigger performance in this contest. FUTURE TIMES is back on the same mark as when second at Hamilton and merits consideration.
21:00 Ripon
Leg 6 Selections: Bryce, Mrs Trump
BRYCE is still in search of a first success but has shown more than enough to think he can win a race like this at this level. He wouldn’t need to improve much more on what he’s shown to date to make a serious impact.
MRS TRUMP has also shown plenty without success and returned a good second off this mark at Beverley last time. The form has offered mixed results since but the third did win next-time-out and this filly might be able to raise her game and open her account with more to come.
How does a Placepot work?
The more people who play the Placepot at a given meeting, the larger the pool will be. If less people find the winning combination across the six races, the bigger the winning dividend will be.
When placing your Tote Placepot bet, you can choose whether to make one or more selections in each race, which are referred to as lines.
Adding multiple lines in a race increases your chances of picking a horse that places. However, your total stake is determined ‘per line’, so the more lines you place the higher the stake will be.
To work out how much you have won, multiply your stake per line by the amount of winning lines you have. Your winnings will then be either that percentage of the published £1-stake winnings or a multiple of the published dividend.
