Leg 1 Selections: Notre Maison, Kodi Dancer

NOTRE MAISON only had a neck to spare over KODI DANCER over course-and-distance two starts ago and there isn’t a lot to separate them here either. I am optimistic both will fight out the finish again here but I’m not sure which one will come out on top, therefore, both have to be included in the opener.

Leg 2 Selections: Etihad Rail, Vice Captain, Lady Ava, The African Queen

ETIHAD RAIL was just in behind a subsequent winner on debut at Newbury when third and ran well when second at Leicester next time. He was only fourth at Wolverhampton when last seen but has improvement to come and in my opinion, is the one to beat. VICE CAPTAIN was well beaten last time but went close two starts back and can’t be ruled out. LADY AVA and THE AFRICAN QUEEN could also figure, so neither of those are taken lightly in this tricky small-field contest.

Leg 3 Selections: Ermin Street, Forward Flight

Surely ERMIN STREET has a race like this in him off this mark. He has fallen a long way in the weights since finishing a neck second on his handicap debut at Nottingham last May. He might not have threatened in each of his starts so far this year but he’s been running fairly well in defeat and should go well. FORWARD FLIGHT won off a four pound higher mark last May and his latest efforts suggest his turn might again be near.

Leg 4 Selections: Ceilidh

CEILIDH clearly doesn’t act on the all-weather, as his three runs on the surface have been his worst performances in his career. He had placed in his two starts beforehand on the turf and George Baker’s charge remains less-exposed than most. He is fancied to bounce back and get himself into the frame in a race that he should be competitive in.

Leg 5 Selections: Diamond Cottage

DIAMOND COTTAGE is a proper course-specialist, the sort of horse you need for these bets and is unbeaten in three starts over course-and-distance. She only won by a neck here last time but a two pound rise seems fair in the aftermath of that success and she’s drawn lovely in stall 3 as well. Another personal best will be needed to come out on top but that’s a possibility given her unblemished record here.

Leg 6 Selections: Liosa

This is a very moderate contest so it could pay to side with LIOSA, who has shown enough to suggest he can win a race of this calibre. He has been thereabouts in both handicap starts to date, finishing fourth in each, and has dropped a pound for the latest of those efforts. Stuart Kittow is two-from-eight at this course and this unexposed three-year-old should play a leading role.

How does a Placepot work?

The more people who play the Placepot at a given meeting, the larger the pool will be. If less people find the winning combination across the six races, the bigger the winning dividend will be.

When placing your Tote Placepot bet, you can choose whether to make one or more selections in each race, which are referred to as lines.

Adding multiple lines in a race increases your chances of picking a horse that places. However, your total stake is determined ‘per line’, so the more lines you place the higher the stake will be.

To work out how much you have won, multiply your stake per line by the amount of winning lines you have. Your winnings will then be either that percentage of the published £1-stake winnings or a multiple of the published dividend.
