Wednesday Tote Placepot Tips for Kempton from Architect

Leg 1 Selections: Genesius, Tequilamockingbird

Sir Mark Prescott’s only runner on the card, GENESIUS, must have a great chance of victory in the opener. He beat subsequent winner Lexington Knight at Thirsk when last seen and is just as effective on the all-weather having won off a higher mark at Wolverhampton. He is the one to beat. 

TEQUILAMOCKINGBIRD is technically four pounds lower than when winning over course-and-distance last August if you take her jockey’s claim into account. She was only beaten a neck at Wolverhampton last time and the winner has gone close since. This daughter of New Approach has leading credentials.  

Leg 2 Selections: Works Of Art 

The Andrew Balding-trained WORKS OF ART looked a work-in-progress when sixth on debut over course-and-distance, where she caught the eye from the back of the field to be nearest the finish. She is sure to improve a lot from that initial experience and can land the second race under William Buick. 

Leg 3 Selections: Lion’s Pride 

LION’S PRIDE, a son of Roaring Lion, made a highly promising start to his career when second at Newcastle, beaten just half-a-length. The form has been let down by the winner since but he is open to a lot more improvement and this isn’t the strongest of events for this grade, so he’s taken to go one better. 

Leg 4 Selections: Motazzen, Wholeofthemoon

MOTAZZEN ran a lovely race when second to the re-opposing WHOLEOFTHEMOON, as the pair occupied the one-two over course-and-distance last month. 

George Baker’s charge is three pounds better off at the weights, so he could reverse the form but the latter ran very well on the turf at Sandown when third next time and should again feature in the outcome. 

Leg 5 Selections: Hazel Bear, Double Down 

HAZEL BEAR has displayed lots of promise in each of her four starts to date, which have all been in higher-class events and she will now compete in a class 6 for the first time. 

This is evidently easier than the races she has competed in to date. She went close on her debut when third so fitness is no issue and should be thereabouts. DOUBLE DOWN has placed in his last three starts and should be winning soon as well. 

Leg 6 Selections: Mawkeb, Dynakite

MAWKEB will be having his first start in a class 6 and must have every chance. He has done all of his winning and placed efforts off higher marks in stronger company and is eight pounds below his last winning mark. Tom Marquand rides and he’s a major player for Mick Appleby. 

DYNAKITE is a three-time course-and-distance winner and has won one of those off a higher mark. He ran poorly here last time but clearly failed to stay the distance and is drawn well in stall 5. He is second choice given his excellent record here plus his mark remaining lenient.

How does a Placepot work?

The more people who play the Placepot at a given meeting, the larger the pool will be. If less people find the winning combination across the six races, the bigger the winning dividend will be.

When placing your Tote Placepot bet, you can choose whether to make one or more selections in each race, which are referred to as lines.

Adding multiple lines in a race increases your chances of picking a horse that places. However, your total stake is determined ‘per line’, so the more lines you place the higher the stake will be. 

To work out how much you have won, multiply your stake per line by the amount of winning lines you have. Your winnings will then be either that percentage of the published £1-stake winnings or a multiple of the published dividend.
