Leg 1 Selections: Saint George, Klondike

Tower Of London has been impressive in Ireland the last twice but he will face a formidable opponent in the shape of SAINT GEORGE, who brings the best piece of form into the contest, courtesy of his career-best second to Gregory in the Queen’s Vase. With plenty more to come, this son of Roaring Lion is the one to beat. Also of interest is KLONDIKE, who overcame inexperience to make a winning debut at Newbury before returning a three-length second to Gregory in a Listed event at Goodwood. He must enter the reckoning with the step up in trip to suit.

Leg 2 Selections: Malc

MALC created a favourable impression when scoring on debut at Carlisle and then ran a stormer in the Norfolk Stakes at Newmarket when second of 14. Himself and the winner were massive odds going into that race but Richard Fahey’s charge was closing down the winner all the way to the line and had some very good horses in behind. If he can translate that form to this unconventional course, he is surely going to be hard to beat. I would much rather side with him given the substance of his form rather than potential, as the win of Purosangue on debut has not worked out well.

Leg 3 Selections: Desert Cop, Mill Stream, Rousing Encore

A really competitive race but I’ll play three against the field. DESERT COP has the burden of top-weight coupled with a stiff mark of 105 but he ran a really good race when sixth of 17 in the King’s Stand and takes a significant ease in grade. His two-length second to Shaquille in a Listed race is quality form, as the winner subsequently won the Commonwealth Cup. In addition, Harry Davies is booked to ride and can claim three pounds, too. MILL STREAM ran well on handicap debut at York when third and has a big chance back at the scene of his second to Noble Style last July. Both of these are closely matched with that 114-rated horse, while ROUSING ENCORE would easily outrun his ludicrous odds if he was able to rediscover the form of his second in the Mill Reef, which also reads well.

Leg 4 Selections: Adayar

This is an excellent chance for 2021 Derby and King George winner ADAYAR to resume winning ways by stamping his class on these. Charlie Appleby’s charge made a successful return in the Gordon Richards on the Rowley Mile and wasn’t discredited when third in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes. He is by far the best horse in this race and will be better suited to this longer distance. I will honestly be shocked if Israr finds 11 pounds to beat him and he should be too good for these. Great chance.

Leg 5 Selections: Sacred Angel, Jumeirah Breeze, Miss Information

SACRED ANGEL shaped with plenty of promise when third on debut at Pontefract, where she kept on well to be nearest the finish and is sure to improve. JUMEIRAH BREEZE left her debut effort behind when second last month and could take another step forward with those couple of runs under her belt. MISS INFORMATION is an interesting newcomer and Andrew Balding does well with similar types. The fact that Rob Hornby rides suggest a big run could be forthcoming. Either way, she will improve on what she shows here.

Leg 6 Selections: Nostrum, New Endeavour

It’s great to see the return of NOSTRUM who hasn’t been seen since finishing third in the Dewhurst Stakes. He surrendered his unbeaten record but that is high-class form given what the front pair have gone on to achieve since. His defeats of Arrest and Holloway Boy are good pieces of form too, so despite conceding fitness to these, he could outclass them. NEW ENDEAVOUR was only beaten half-a-length in the Britannia when second though and is the one likely to chase home the former or take advantage in case the favourite is a little rusty.

How does a Placepot work?

The more people who play the Placepot at a given meeting, the larger the pool will be. If less people find the winning combination across the six races, the bigger the winning dividend will be.

When placing your Tote Placepot bet, you can choose whether to make one or more selections in each race, which are referred to as lines.

Adding multiple lines in a race increases your chances of picking a horse that places. However, your total stake is determined ‘per line’, so the more lines you place the higher the stake will be.

To work out how much you have won, multiply your stake per line by the amount of winning lines you have. Your winnings will then be either that percentage of the published £1-stake winnings or a multiple of the published dividend.
