Leg 1 Selections: Enzos Angel

Stuart Williams ENZOS ANGEL could be the answer to the opener. This four-year-old hasn’t made an impact in any of his starts but his debut fifth is very good form albeit he was beaten about six lengths. That race featured the likes of My Prospero and Claymore, who are rated 110+. Even if he could only run to that level in this contest, he would surely be competitive and in the process, make the frame.

Leg 2 Selections: Tiora

The Patrick Owens-trained TIORA is fancied to open her account in the second race. She was highly tried on debut in a class two, where she finished sixth of 13 and then improved to take third at Leicester. In that race, she split two subsequent winners and while she couldn’t build on that at Doncaster when only fifth, she’s worth another chance based on that initial promise and can strike under Ben Curtis.

Leg 3 Selections: Fierce, Darkened Edge

There’s no doubt FIERCE should have broken his maiden status by now as not only has he been consistent in defeat but some of his form is head and shoulders above these. Gary Moore’s charge has finished second the last two times but his third at Newbury back in October is the best form in the field.

He was right in behind (neck) subsequent Ascot winner The Big Board who won at the Berkshire venue off a mark of 92. Surely if he repeats that form here, he wins this race. DARKENED EDGE is played as cover, who didn’t shape at all badly when fifth on debut at Windsor and could improve to make the frame.

Leg 4 Selections: May Blossom, Jojo Rabbit

An open-looking handicap for race four but I do like the look of two participants. Firstly MAY BLOSSOM who’s normally seen in stronger events than this and her penultimate third at Doncaster has worked out well with the winner, The Big Board, subsequently defying a mark of 92 at Ascot. David O’Meara’s filly is two pounds below her last winning mark and should be able to make an impact at this lower level than last time.

JOJO RABBIT is another grade-dropper, who can be a tricky ride but is absolutely thrown in here off a mark of 69. His last win was off a 16 pounds higher mark over course-and-distance in a higher grade race. The five-year-old was a juvenile as well, who finished eighth in the Norfolk at Royal Ascot and was also second in a Super Sprint at Newbury too. He can go well at a big price.

Leg 5 Selections: Rhythmic Acclaim

RHYTHMIC ACCLAIM has upped her game markedly since going handicapping, finishing second in both starts. She was given a lot to do at Brighton last time as she came from off the pace to only be beaten half-a-length, while her second on handicap debut reads the best form in the race, as she chased home Quinault, who has won five times in succession since. This three-year-old filly must have a great chance of opening her account.

Leg 6 Selections: Calypso, Jack Daniel

CALYPSO has been a model of consistency in his last five starts, hitting the frame in all of them, including the last twice off this mark despite not having the race run to suit. He’s open to a lot more improvement and surely has a race in him like this.

JACK DANIEL weakened out of contention when down the field at Doncaster when last spotted but had won at Thirsk the time before and remains unexposed over a mile. He’s likely to be ridden prominently and although he is likely to set this up for a closer, such as the former, he’s not without a chance.

How does a Placepot work?

The more people who play the Placepot at a given meeting, the larger the pool will be. If less people find the winning combination across the six races, the bigger the winning dividend will be.

When placing your Tote Placepot bet, you can choose whether to make one or more selections in each race, which are referred to as lines.

Adding multiple lines in a race increases your chances of picking a horse that places. However, your total stake is determined ‘per line’, so the more lines you place the higher the stake will be.

To work out how much you have won, multiply your stake per line by the amount of winning lines you have. Your winnings will then be either that percentage of the published £1-stake winnings or a multiple of the published dividend.
