Leg 1 Selections: Gushing Gold, Betties Bay

The opener is a maiden fillies’ stakes event and it could prove informative in the long run with plenty of interesting newcomers to note. The filly who does set the standard though is GUSHING GOLD. She finished second on debut at Leicester before a midfield finish in the Albany at Royal Ascot. She could be hard to beat down in grade, while BETTIES BAY was a good second on debut at Newbury and didn’t disgrace herself in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot.

Leg 2 Selections: Maximum Dividend

MAXIMUM DIVIDEND was sent off a big price on debut at Sandown but only just failed by a nose though and could go one better with normal progression expected. Similar to the previous race, I’ll take substance over potential.

Leg 3 Selections: Bjorn Ironside, Warm Spell

Named after one of the leading characters in the series ‘Vikings’, a great series if you haven’t watched it, BJORN IRONSIDE shaped with plenty of promise when sixth of 12 on debut at Haydock and, with more to come, he should be able to figure. WARM SPELL did well from an unfavourable position when second on debut at Goodwood and is another who should improve and make some sort of impact in this contest.

Leg 4 Selections: Temporize, Isle Of Sark

TEMPORIZE has not won in a handicap as of yet but has been knocking on the door in three starts this year and was only beaten a neck at Doncaster last-time-out. His two wins were gained last July, so this is technically his time of year and he should be competitive. ISLE OF SARK is very well-handicapped on the pick of his form when formerly-trained in Ireland and could get involved on just his fourth start for this stable.

Leg 5 Selections: Spring Fever, Divina Grace

SPRING FEVER is a progressive filly who has won two of her last three starts and dominated her rivals from the front at Newmarket when last spotted. A 10 pound rise makes her task a lot more difficult this time but she’s probably got a lot more to come and will be very hard to beat. I also like DIVINA GRACE who has two wins and three placed efforts from seven starts and should give another solid account. I think this mark is within her compass.

Leg 6 Selections: Balon D’or, Dapper Valley

BALON D’OR has buckets of speed and has put together three solid efforts in defeat since winning on debut with the best of those efforts coming at Epsom when second in the Woodcote behind Bobsleigh. He should be able to feature, while DAPPER VALLEY won impressively on debut and can be forgiven for his latest effort when his rein broke during the race. He retains potential and could make an impact.
