Architect Tips shares Tote Placepot tips for Saturday's action at Newbury and yesterday's Placepot Results from Newbury.
13:15 Newbury
Leg 1 Selections: Infinity Blue, Lost In Music, Government Call
A lot of luck will be required to get through the first race given all of these with the exception of one runner will be making their racecourse debut with only breeding/trainers to go on. GOVERNMENT CALL is nicely bred and could go well, while LOST IN MUSIC is related to several winners and this son of Churchill appeals on paper. INFINITY BLUE is a son of high-class sprinter Blue Point and could feature.

Leg 2 Selections: Dancing Magic, Al Aasy
Roger Teal’s DANCING MAGIC has been highly-tried in his career and while his disappointment on his only previous start over this trip, he hasn’t been beaten far in various Group events, including at the highest level. This could be the time he gets his head in front with the best of him to come, while the favourite AL AASY is the one to beat on ratings and is next best.
14:25 Newbury
Leg 3 Selections: The Grand Visir, Apparate, Sweet William
Ian Williams has won this twice in the five-year history of the race and could win it again with THE GRAND VISIR was an excellent second at Royal Ascot when last spotted and is three pounds below his last winning mark with conditions to suit and the drop in trip no problem to him at all. He has the class to beat these but I’ll also include APPARATE who went close at Doncaster last-time-out and could figure. SWEET WILLIAM completes the shortlist.

Leg 4 Selections: Rumstar, Shartash
RUMSTAR ran really well when sixth in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot, his first start at the highest level. He won a strong nursery race at Goodwood this time last year and returned a good winner of a Group 3 at Newmarket back in October. He’s of serious interest, as is SHARTASH, who has strong form-lines given he’s beaten Royal Ascot and Group 1 winners and has more to come over six furlongs. He is partnered by Oisin Murphy, too.
15:35 Newbury
Leg 5 Selections: Bobsleigh
Relief Rally is the likeliest winner but BOBSLEIGH lost little in defeat when surrendering his unbeaten record when sixth in the Coventry Stakes from an unfavourable side of the track and is open to further improvement. He will get a good pace to aim at back over five furlongs and is the biggest threat to the former.
16:10 Newbury
Leg 6 Selections: Brunel Nation, Blue Day
I am not sold on the favourite at all and instead I’ll chance a couple of newcomers. The first of those is BRUNEL NATION from the in-form Richard Hughes team with Pat Dobbs booked to ride. BLUE DAY is the other one who takes my interest given his stunning pedigree and might emerge as a leading candidate.
How does a Placepot work?
The more people who play the Placepot at a given meeting, the larger the pool will be. If less people find the winning combination across the six races, the bigger the winning dividend will be.
When placing your Tote Placepot bet, you can choose whether to make one or more selections in each race, which are referred to as lines.
Adding multiple lines in a race increases your chances of picking a horse that places. However, your total stake is determined ‘per line’, so the more lines you place the higher the stake will be.
To work out how much you have won, multiply your stake per line by the amount of winning lines you have. Your winnings will then be either that percentage of the published £1-stake winnings or a multiple of the published dividend.
