Architect Tips shares Tote Placepot tips for Friday's action at York and yesterday's Placepot Results from Yarmouth.
17:00 York
Leg 1 Selections: Tele Red, Clear Angel
TELE RED returned a decisive winner at Salisbury last week and escapes a penalty, so he could make a bold bid to follow-up. CLEAR ANGEL has been in good form himself at a lower level of late, winning his last two starts and is another who could have a say in the outcome if the ground remains on the soft side.
17:30 York
Leg 2 Selections: Ascot Adventure, No Nay Nicki
ASCOT ADVENTURE has made a positive start for this stable and ran well when second at Musselburgh just a few days ago. If this doesn’t come too soon, he’s a leading contender off an unchanged mark. NO NAY NICKI is becoming well-treated and would only need to repeat his latest second here to play a role.
18:05 York
Leg 3 Selections: Loose Cannon, Batal Dandy
A lot of well-bred newcomers but LOOSE CANNON is more appealing than most and has already attracted a lot of support. He could be up to making a winning debut, while BATAL DANDY from the Richard Fahey team is another one to note. His stable can ready debutants and he might emerge as a player.
18:40 York
Leg 4 Selections: Oso Rapido, Le Beau Garcon
OSO RAPIDO shaped very well when fifth over track and trip two starts ago and is down another two pounds for finishing second at Catterick nine days back. He could go well with Oisin Murphy booked to ride, while LE BEAU GARCON remains lightly-raced and has placed in his last three starts. He is respected.
19:15 York
Leg 5 Selections: Midnight Mile
I will take a sole chance on MIDNIGHT MILE, who will find this a lot easier than when failing to make an impact in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot. She won a Group 3 back in October and ran well when fourth in both the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies and the Musidora. She is one of the highest-rated in the field and will appreciate the drop in grade.
19:50 York
Leg 6 Selections: Brunch, Jean Baptiste
BRUNCH has a great record at this course and was only beaten a head on his last visit here in a red-hot handicap off a three pounds higher mark. He isn’t guaranteed to stay the trip but if he does, he has the class to figure against these. JEAN BAPTISTE has placed in his last two starts and is two pounds below his last win mark. He can run a huge race getting lumps of weight from the rest.
How does a Placepot work?
The more people who play the Placepot at a given meeting, the larger the pool will be. If less people find the winning combination across the six races, the bigger the winning dividend will be.
When placing your Tote Placepot bet, you can choose whether to make one or more selections in each race, which are referred to as lines.
Adding multiple lines in a race increases your chances of picking a horse that places. However, your total stake is determined ‘per line’, so the more lines you place the higher the stake will be.
To work out how much you have won, multiply your stake per line by the amount of winning lines you have. Your winnings will then be either that percentage of the published £1-stake winnings or a multiple of the published dividend.
