Steve Ryder is back with four tips for today's action.
13:50 Ascot
The Jonny Portman trained Cry Fiction (best priced at 14/1) has been overlooked in the market for her first two career starts and hopefully she can outrun her odds once again. The two-year-old defied odds of 20/1 to win at Windsor on her debut over 6f before finishing 2nd in the listed Empress Fillies’ Stakes at Newmarket earlier this month.
Cry Fiction was sent off an unfancied 40/1 shot that day but ran well to finish 2nd behind Star Of Mystery who looks a Group 1 fillly and four lengths in front of the 3rd Unbreak My Heart who was more experienced. With a rating of 93 she only has 4lbs for find with the favourite Pretty Crystal and I expect her to outrun her odds once again.
14:30 Gowran Park
The Aidan O’Brien trained Jackie Oh (best priced at 9/2) disappointed when sent off joint favourite at Royal Ascot but she is expected to bounce back here. The beautifully bred daughter of Galileo won on heavy ground at Naas on her debut before finishing a close 2nd over 1m2f on heavy ground on her next start at Navan. She ran better than a finishing position of 5th suggests in the Irish 1000 Guineas behind Tahiyra before disappointing on fast ground at Royal Ascot in the Sandringham.
This return to softer ground will suit Jackie Oh and she should be involved based on her rating of 101 and her three-year-old weight allowance.
14:40 York
Despite being stabled in Newmarket, The Green Man (best priced at 14/1) has never put in his best performances at either track so he can be excused being a beaten favourite a month ago on the July course. Prior to that, the Joe Parr trained gelding has won at Doncaster by a short head off a mark of 82 before winning in impressive style by 3 ¼ lengths over this course and distance off a mark of 86.
The Green Man was only beaten 2 ½ lengths last time at Newmarket off a mark of 95 and he should run well off the same mark here with up to six places available.
17:25 Ascot
The Julie Camacho trained Significantly (best priced at 11/2) has shown his best form at Ascot and he should be able to build on his latest success. The five-year-old won the 5f Palace Of Holyroodhouse Handicap at Royal Ascot in 2021 off a mark of 92 before winning a heritage handicap over the same course and distance off a mark of 96.
Significantly won on his second start for the stable at Haydock earlier this month when fitted with first time cheekpieces despite stumbling at the start leaving the stalls. That victory came off a mark of 87 and he should hold strong claims off a 6lb higher mark with Ryan Sexton taking off a handy 3lbs.
