Leg 1 Selections: Hot Team, Billy Roberts, Lenny’s Spirit

HOT TEAM ran a good race when second behind subsequent winner Temper Trap at Hamilton and could go one better with a repeat performance. BILLY ROBERTS has a good record here and was a fine second over course-and-distance three weeks ago. He won this last year and cannot be ruled out. LENNY’S SPIRIT could get an easy lead and has won his last two starts. The hat-trick could be on the cards.

Leg 2 Selections: Whiskey Pete

WHISKEY PETE turned in a very promising debut effort when second at Newmarket and will set a high standard based on that performance. This son of Night Of Thunder has a lot more to come and could prove capable of going one place better. It is hard to see Ralph Beckett’s charge not involved in the thick-end of the action. Good chance.

Leg 3 Selections: Jumbeau

JUMBEAU has not yet added to her debut success at Brighton but has been running with credit in each of her starts since. She ran well in the Windsor Castle, Two Year Old Trophy and a Listed event last year and has placed in her last three starts. Her record in a class four or lower reads 122 from three starts and she holds strong credentials. I cannot see her out of the frame and I’m confident she will go close.

Leg 4 Selections: Wootton’s Jewel

This does look a strong contest for the grade but WOOTTON’S JEWEL shaped with bundles of potential when third on debut at Chester, he handled the course well. He wasn’t beaten far, having challenged earlier than ideal and that experience will have done him the world of good ahead of this assignment. He could improve enough to trouble the judge and open his account. I think he has been underestimated.

Leg 5 Selections: Cheshire Dancer, Sovereign Queen

I am keen to oppose the favourite who has let her supporters down the last two times and was well-beaten when last seen. I’m not sure why she is favourite and instead I will recommend a couple of newcomers. CHESHIRE DANCER is well-bred and could figure, while SOVEREIGN QUEEN is related to the classy sprinter Glass Slippers and could be ready to fire on debut.

Leg 6 Selections: Unequal Love, Diamond Vega

UNEQUAL LOVE has improved since finishing fourth on debut, winning both starts, and could complete the three-timer with more to come on handicap debut. DIAMOND VEGA powered to victory at Catterick last month, her second win of her career and shouldn’t be far away despite the rise in the weights.

How does a Placepot work?

The more people who play the Placepot at a given meeting, the larger the pool will be. If less people find the winning combination across the six races, the bigger the winning dividend will be.

When placing your Tote Placepot bet, you can choose whether to make one or more selections in each race, which are referred to as lines.

Adding multiple lines in a race increases your chances of picking a horse that places. However, your total stake is determined ‘per line’, so the more lines you place the higher the stake will be.

To work out how much you have won, multiply your stake per line by the amount of winning lines you have. Your winnings will then be either that percentage of the published £1-stake winnings or a multiple of the published dividend.
