Leg 1 Selections: Tees Spirit, Bond Chairman, Judicial

TEES SPIRIT has failed to make an impact in two starts this year but the return to handicap company following wind surgery could help him get back to something like last year’s form. He won four times last summer, including the Dash at Epsom, and this course should suit in addition to conditions.

BOND CHAIRMAN never runs a bad race here and returned a solid third over course-and-distance two weeks ago. He should be competitive from a favourable high draw, while last year’s second JUDICIAL cannot be taken lightly either who should take a step forward from his reappearance.

Leg 2 Selections: Berkshire Rocco, The Grand Visir

BERKSHIRE ROCCO has been running a lot better than the results have suggested of late and his mark has eased another couple of pounds. He was second in the Queen’s Vase a few years ago and is not without hope.

THE GRAND VISIR ran a good race in the Queen Alexandra at the Royal meeting this year when second and finished fifth of 17 in the marathon event at Glorious Goodwood last week. He has a fair chance turned out quickly given he seems to do better when he’s on the go regularly.

Leg 3 Selections: Dark Jedi, Pride Of Priory

DARK JEDI is three pounds lower than when last successful and has previously run some excellent races in defeat in stronger company off higher marks. Despite not being at his best so far this year, he has the class to beat these when at his best. His mark is too lenient to ignore his chances with lots in his favour.

PRIDE OF PRIORY won three times last summer, including in this race last year when a comfortable winner and has obviously been trained for a potential repeat success. Frankie takes the ride and his mount has a great chance.

Leg 4 Selections: The Wizard Of Eye, Escobar, Empirestateofmind

THE WIZARD OF EYE caught the eye under a big weight back in handicap company when sixth in the 20-runner Golden Mile at Glorious Goodwood last-time-out and the handicapper has dropped him a couple of pounds. This four-year-old will be up with the pace in the early stages and could make his class count. I think he will be hard to beat.

ESCOBAR won a valuable pot here from a five pounds higher mark back in October and has claims on that form, while EMPIRESTATEOFMIND went close off a pound higher mark back in April and has Frankie in the saddle. He should be competitive.

Leg 5 Selections: Struth, Rajasthan

STRUTH did a lot better then the beaten margin indicated at Goodwood last time, as he travelled powerfully for much of the contest and only weakened out of things late into the contest on the rain-softened ground.
He is a pound lower for this contest and should be thereabouts, though RAJASTHAN has continued to improve and although his opening mark is stiff, he is a player.

Leg 6 Selections: Quinault

QUINAULT is having a blinder of a year and will arrive into this race in search of a seven-timer. I know this will be his toughest task to date but he is getting better and better with every start and Luke Morris is booked to ride this time.

How does a Placepot work?

The more people who play the Placepot at a given meeting, the larger the pool will be. If less people find the winning combination across the six races, the bigger the winning dividend will be.

When placing your Tote Placepot bet, you can choose whether to make one or more selections in each race, which are referred to as lines.

Adding multiple lines in a race increases your chances of picking a horse that places. However, your total stake is determined ‘per line’, so the more lines you place the higher the stake will be.

To work out how much you have won, multiply your stake per line by the amount of winning lines you have. Your winnings will then be either that percentage of the published £1-stake winnings or a multiple of the published dividend.
