Leg 1 Selections: Breguet Boy, Broad Appeal
Not an easy race to solve as I often find Amateur Handicaps difficult at the best of times given its unpredictability of results.
That said, BREGUET BOY has won twice this year and the last time he ran at this course, he finished third off a mark of 72 in a class-four event. He is still well-handicapped based on historical evidence and should figure back up in distance.
BROAD APPEAL has two course wins to his name and is a course-and-distance winner off a 16 pounds higher mark. He caught the eye here last time over shorter when sixth of 14 and the return to this longer distance should see him competitive.

Leg 2 Selections: Activated, Invincible Slam
A competitive Fillies’ Novice Stakes but I will side with a couple of debutants who have the potential to be above-average. ACTIVATED is bred to have a lot of speed and it will be interesting to see how she fares in the betting beforehand.
Michael Bell could have a really nice filly on his hands, while INVINCIBLE SLAM also has plenty of speed in her pedigree and George Boughey’s two-year-old’s often do well. I can see her running well and will attract support too.

Leg 3 Selections: Empire Of Art, Alnoory
Michael Bell has a good chance in the second race as well as EMPIRE OF ART is likely to take a step forward from his promising debut fourth. He fared best of the newcomers in a race that has worked out well and is open to improvement now faced with better ground.
ALNOORY did very well from a wide draw to finish half-a-length second on debut and confirmed that promise to go one better at Epsom next time. That form is only modest and she has a penalty to contend with this time but she has more to come and should still be thereabouts.

Leg 4 Selections: Primeval, Alpha Zulu
PRIMEVAL made a highly-promising debut when scoring at Doncaster last month and this half-sister to the classy Time Test has bundles more to come. The second from that debut win has been let down since but she still merits respect.
ALPHA ZULU finished a half-a-length second on debut at Newcastle and built upon that promise when going one better next time. He has interestingly undergone wind surgery since and needs consideration, as he is the biggest threat to the favourite on paper.

Leg 5 Selections: Hurt You Never
HURT YOU NEVER is absolutely thriving at present and completed her four-timer when showing a tenacious attitude to see off a higher-rated horse than her in the finish.
A mark in the mid-60s suggests she is still ahead of the handicapper and I have no doubt she has a bit more to come. Given a bit of a break since her last success, connections’ patience with her can prove conclusive in the outcome.

Leg 6 Selections: Shalfa
Most of these are exposed and I like the chances of SHALFA who was fourth behind Pink Lily last-time when beaten just over a length and would have been closer with a clear run.
He did best of those held-up and the handicapper has kindly left him on the same mark here. He clearly appreciated the step up in distance, so with improvement on the cards, he could be a big player.
