Leg 1 Selections: Jewel Maker, Great Colaci, Ghost Rider

This will be JEWEL MAKER’s first start in a class 6 for the first time in over two and a half years and the last time he did, he won at the course. I thought he ran well when faring best of those held-up last time when fourth at Haydock and is now 10 pounds below his last winning mark.

He must have a great chance, and so does seven-time course winner GREAT COLACI who was only beaten a couple of lengths here two weeks ago and is coincidentally 10 pounds below his last successful mark as well. His last win here was off an 11 pounds higher mark and a good claimer can take off seven pounds.

He is another to consider and I will also include Grant Tuer’s GHOST RIDER who was second off this mark here two starts back, in what was his first run at this level. He is well-handicapped on the pick of his form and while has yet to strike in a handicap, today could be the day he does.

Leg 2 Selections: Broctune Red, Purple Ice, Hildegard

BROCTUNE RED has a leading chance in the second race on the card. The eight-year-old has held his form well since winning over course-and-distance back in April.

He is a pound lower than when third over track and trip last-time-out and Alex Jary can reduce his weight by seven-pounds. Another bold bid could be forthcoming from this course-specialist.

PURPLE ICE is only a pound higher than when scoring over course-and-distance and has a chance on that piece of form. He is down in grade after finishing seventh in a stronger race here last time.

Of the remainder, HILDEGARD fared best of those up with the pace when third at Wolverhampton and should be thereabouts from the same mark.

Leg 3 Selections: Galactic Charm

I quite like the claims about Michael Bell’s GALACTIC CHARM who has run to a solid level in making the frame in both starts to date. He was third in a good-quality race on debut at Ascot and matched that form when second at Beverley from an outside draw.

He remains open to further improvement and connections have retained Jason Hart, which is significant. This race is stacked with interesting newcomers but the former does rate a solid pick to at least fill the frame with more to offer on his all-weather debut.

Leg 4 Selections: Making Dreams, Half Moon Rising

MAKING DREAMS is vulnerable to a potential improver but you cannot knock her consistency and has raised her game to win her last couple of starts. She has to carry a six pounds penalty for her latest success but if she acts on the surface, the hat-trick could be on the cards.

HALF MOON RISING has yet to make an impact after three starts but he should be able to fare better in this race and it will be a surprise if he cannot rank higher at some point. His trainer is in pretty good form too, so he might get involved at bigger odds.

Leg 5 Selections: Hidden Code, Reflex

In the fifth race, Ollie Pears also has HIDDEN CODE who ran a very tidy race when second over course-and-distance from a pound higher mark back in May and went close off the same mark at Chester two starts back. He is respected with the potential for better.

Charlie Fellowes' only runner on the card, REFLEX, cannot be dismissed either. He ran his best race to date when second at Wolverhampton on handicap debut and the winner has gone close since off a much higher mark to boost the form. He can go well with Ben Curtis booked to ride.

Leg 6 Selections: Royal Prospect, Urban Road

The sixth race is very competitive but ROYAL PROSPECT is a two-time course winner and his last win at this course was over course-and-distance off a four pounds higher mark, so he is evidently well-treated off a mark of 53 at present.

His last win was also off a mark of 57 and he is down in grade after a couple of recent down-the-field efforts on the turf. He could be ready to run a big race with his course form to draw upon under Jason Hart, who rides this course very well. An appealing outsider.

URBAN ROAD has been in fine form this year, winning three of his nine starts and won very comfortably over course-and-distance when last seen. He has been hit with a six pound rise but should remain competitive on the back of that decisive success.
