Friday Tote Placepot Tips for Newbury from Architect

Leg 1 Selections: Bourgeoisie, High Violet 

The top two in the betting with plenty of experience could dominate proceedings but preference is for BOURGEOISIE who has recorded back-to-back seconds since finishing a promising fifth of 10 on debut at Newmarket and was only beaten a nose over course-and-distance two starts back. She can take the opener but will cover with debutant HIGH VIOLET who makes some appeal on paper and might offer some value. 

Leg 2 Selections: Boiling Point, Thyer

BOILING POINT holds a Group 2 entry and is related to some high-class horses. He made a promising debut second where he travelled well and only found one too good and should improve for the step up in distance in this race. THYER also made a nice introduction when he was third here four weeks ago and should also appreciate the step up in trip. He cannot be dismissed with plenty more to come. 

Leg 3 Selections: Count Palatine, Invincible Tiger

A wild chance is taken on COUNT PALATINE who found the ground too soft last time and has place claims back on this better surface and ran well when third two starts back at this course. He could go well at a price, while INVINCIBLE TIGER opened her account at the third time of asking at Bath and should prove to be better than this mark. She is probably the solid option to make the frame. 

Leg 4 Selections: Indispensable, Juniper Berries 

A good race this is and INDISPENSABLE could emerge as one of the leading contenders. She has not been out of the frame in all of her starts, which includes a success, and has also ran well in a pair of Listed events. She was a good third at Goodwood last-time-out and should be thereabouts. JUNIPER BERRIES was a place in front of the former in that race at Goodwood when second and previously acquitted herself well in the Queen Mary and Super Sprint. 

Leg 5 Selections: Flying Secret

I really like the chances of top-weight FLYING SECRET who has been in great form this campaign, including over course-and-distance in a stronger race back in June and has held his form well in defeat since. From the same mark as when third last time, he should be very difficult to keep out of the frame so is the only pick for this race. 

Leg 6 Selections: Mrembo, Meleri

MREMBO won at this course in June over slightly further and was only beaten half-a-length when third at Sandown last time, faring best of those who were up with the pace. He should run well getting weight from the remainder. MELERI is only three pounds above her last winning mark and shouldn’t be far away with a repeat of her latest fourth at Newmarket. 

How does a Placepot work?

The more people who play the Placepot at a given meeting, the larger the pool will be. If less people find the winning combination across the six races, the bigger the winning dividend will be.

When placing your Tote Placepot bet, you can choose whether to make one or more selections in each race, which are referred to as lines.

Adding multiple lines in a race increases your chances of picking a horse that places. However, your total stake is determined ‘per line’, so the more lines you place the higher the stake will be. 

To work out how much you have won, multiply your stake per line by the amount of winning lines you have. Your winnings will then be either that percentage of the published £1-stake winnings or a multiple of the published dividend.
