Architect Tips shares Tote Placepot tips for Sunday's action at Sandown and yesterday's Placepot results from Newbury.

Leg 1 Selections: Equity Law, Two Tribes
The 1st leg is the Sky Bet Sunday Series Nursery and EQUITY LAW will be much better suited to the better ground than when only fourth at Chester last time. He travelled like the best horse through the race though and was only headed in the closing stages, having gone to the front effortlessly beforehand. On that evidence, the drop in trip will suit given he has a lot of tactical speed and should take some beating. TWO TRIBES only found a subsequent winner a neck too good over course-and-distance ten days ago and would have in-the-frame claims at least with a repeat.

Leg 2 Selections: Arecibo, Call Me Ginger, Ancient Times
The 2nd leg is wide-open but ARECIBO was a classy horse in his prime, finishing second in a Group 1 as well as achieving other good form and his best effort this year was over track and trip. He could get back to form and outrun his double-digit odds. CALL ME GINGER didn’t enjoy the best of runs at Windsor last time and might be worth another chance. He remains well-treated on the pick of his form, while ANCIENT TIMES doesn’t lack for consistency and is more than capable of making his presence felt off this mark at this level. Hayley Turner rides.

Leg 3 Selections: Reaching High, Rascal Recknell
A bit of guesswork needed for the 3rd leg but REACHING HIGH has a smart pedigree and cannot be taken lightly for a stable who does well with two-year-old’s. This son of Sea The Stars will be much more effective over a longer trip in time but this is a good starting point and he might be able to run well. RASCAL RECKNELL represents a powerful stable in Owen Burrows and has already been well supported in the market. He might be a leading player too. A couple of others cannot be ruled out but hopefully one of these two can make the frame or even win the race.

Leg 4 Selections: Auld Toon Loon, Junkanoo, Trais Fluors
In the 4th leg, AULD TOON LOON could be hard to keep out of the frame. This improving four-year-old has won twice over this trip in recent months and found further improvement to finish second at Haydock last month. He has only been raised a couple of pounds and has to make the shortlist. JUNKANOO has won two of his last four starts and should have more to come. This mark shouldn’t prove beyond him and TRAIS FLUORS has been in good form of late who has won at this course off a 17 pounds higher mark in the past. He likes it here and has the back-class to go well despite going back up in grade.

Leg 5 Selections: Ouzo
In the 5th leg, I have this race between Metal Merchant and OUZO but will solely go with the latter, who is extremely consistent and only found a classy sort too strong when second over course-and-distance in a higher-quality last-time-out. He is only two pounds above his last winning mark and his previous sixth of 30 in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot on his first start in the UK in four months came off a pound higher mark. Form-wise, he has to be going close in this race.

Leg 6 Selections: Sly Madam, Marinara
Top-weight SLY MADAM has the ability to run well in the 6th leg. This mare handles most ground and has finished second in two of her last three starts. She was beaten just a neck off a pound higher mark at Windsor in a higher-grade race and this is easier. She must have a good chance of at least making the frame, though MARINARA is an improving filly who won in good style when opening her account at Yarmouth last-time-out and although the draw doesn’t look great, she should remain competitive.
How does a Placepot work?
The more people who play the Placepot at a given meeting, the larger the pool will be. If less people find the winning combination across the six races, the bigger the winning dividend will be.
When placing your Tote Placepot bet, you can choose whether to make one or more selections in each race, which are referred to as lines.
Adding multiple lines in a race increases your chances of picking a horse that places. However, your total stake is determined ‘per line’, so the more lines you place the higher the stake will be.
To work out how much you have won, multiply your stake per line by the amount of winning lines you have. Your winnings will then be either that percentage of the published £1-stake winnings or a multiple of the published dividend.
