Leg 1 Selections: Beautiful Diamond, Star Of Mystery

Relief Rally might be impossible to beat now stepped up in trip, who should be arriving here with an uneaten record but she isn’t guaranteed to showcase her best over this trip compared to what she has shown over five furlongs and might be worth taking on in the hope we can eliminate a few units to start proceedings.

BEAUTIFUL DIAMOND was a place behind her at Royal Ascot but could bridge the gap over this longer trip and is included having been kept fresh for this.

STAR OF MYSTERY is better than she showed last time and could offer some nice value as she retains the potential to make her mark at this level after previously impressing in a Listed event.

Leg 2 Selections: Twilight Romance, Ambushed

TWILIGHT ROMANCE did very well from a tricky track position when second last time, giving weight to the winner who he had previously beaten on level terms at York. He is drawn well, has his ground and has plenty more to offer. All the evidence points to him ranking higher at some point and he is one of the best bets on today’s card. Excellent chance.

Archie Watson’s AMBUSHED improved from his down the field debut effort to return a good winner at Newcastle last time when beating Ballymount Boy who ran well in a Group 3 at this fixture yesterday to take second. He is of interest on his turf debut and could be set to outrun his odds.

Leg 3 Selections: The Gatekeeper, Spirit Catcher

I really like a couple of runners from the Mark Johnston team in this race. The first one is
THE GATEKEEPER who is only a pound above his last winning mark and ran a huge race when second in the Golden Mile at Goodwood last time where he was only beaten half-a-length. A reproduction of that effort would surely be enough to see him fill the frame at least here with Buick in the saddle.

SPIRIT CATCHER is the choice of Joe Fanning though, who returned a commanding winner at Ripon when last seen and is turned out quickly (only ran five days ago) to contest this assignment. He is likely to get a lovely lead into the race and probably has room for manoeuvre off this initial mark. He was down the field on his last visit here but has improved a lot since and might be able to run a big race now upped in class.

Leg 4 Selections: Rosscarbery, Savethelastdance

ROSSCARBERY’s consistency cannot be disputed and this multiple Group 3 winner has been in great form again this season. She ran with a lot of credit to finish fourth in the Pretty Polly after being badly hampered and was a good second when last seen over a trip that was too far. She came close to landing a Group 1 last year in France at this time of year and could be ready to turn in a new career-best by making the frame or even better in this race.

SAVETHELASTDANCE returned a really game winner of the Irish Oaks when last seen and has proven she handles quicker ground after she finished a good second in the Epsom Oaks when she clearly wasn’t that comfortable on the course. This has been her main target since last time and she comes out best at the weights. She should be shorter and will take a lot of beating with improvement on the cards.

Leg 5 Selections: One Evening, Scenic

ONE EVENING caught the eye from the back of the field last time when a staying-on second having not got the clearest runs and has been kept fresh for this race since. Ryan Moore takes the ride and this four-year-old has every chance of finding the necessary improvement to land a first pattern-class success. She ran very well in her only previous visit here in a Group 3 contest over a trip that stretched her stamina.

SCENIC has continued to go from strength-to-strength and ran a cracker when third last time behind Midnight Mile. She was doing all of her best work in the closing stages, so the step up in distance is a positive move plus Oisin Murphy has been requested to ride. I think she has an excellent chance of at least making the frame as her form and rating puts her right in contention.

Leg 6 Selections: Gushing Gold, Aragon Castle

Andrew Balding could hold the key in the 6th leg. GUSHING GOLD has placed in three of her four starts to date the form of her debut second received a boost yesterday. Her ninth in the Albany was perfectly-respectable and she is entitled to build on her latest third on the all-weather over the same trip back on the turf with a top jockey booked to ride.

ARAGON CASTLE wasn’t suited to soft ground at Chester last time but still ran well to finish second and had previously beaten a subsequent winner with lots to spare. He has a lot more to come and should be suited to this course. He has to be noted as one of the leading contenders and could prove hard to beat.

How does a Placepot work?

The more people who play the Placepot at a given meeting, the larger the pool will be. If less people find the winning combination across the six races, the bigger the winning dividend will be.

When placing your Tote Placepot bet, you can choose whether to make one or more selections in each race, which are referred to as lines.

Adding multiple lines in a race increases your chances of picking a horse that places. However, your total stake is determined ‘per line’, so the more lines you place the higher the stake will be.

To work out how much you have won, multiply your stake per line by the amount of winning lines you have. Your winnings will then be either that percentage of the published £1-stake winnings or a multiple of the published dividend.
