Andy Holding is back with three tips from today's racing action.
14:55 Windsor
SPOOF (best price 10/3) confirmed his current wellbeing with a convincing victory at Nottingham last time out and with a record at today’s track that reads 25613212, Kevin Frost’s veteran looks set to add to those impressive stats.
A game winner at Hamilton four starts ago once the ground turned in his favour, the eight-year-old supplemented those gains under similar conditions at the Midland venue 19 days ago and with the speed figure speaking favourably of the performance (he was also quick on the clock at Haydock in defeat previously), its clear age is no barrier to success as far as he is concerned.
2-3 since teaming up with Ben Robinson and only slightly nudged up in the ratings for his latest exploits, this mud lover rates a decent value bet at the morning odds.
15:35 Wolverhampton
GALILEO GLASS (best price 9/2) posted a career high number on the figures over today’s C&D two starts ago and with David Evans’ gelding going on to add further positives vibes to his current form with another solid effort on unsuitable ground on turf last time, he looks highly likely to go well again on his return to the Midland venue.
Well beaten on his three previous outings at the Dunstall Park track, it was hard to know for sure whether he would be capable of justifying solid market support on his fourth attempt here a month ago, but after always being well positioned throughout, he went on to score with a little bit up his sleeve.
Clocking a decent time figure for the grade, the form has been boosted by the likes of White Umbrella and My Opinion since and with the booking of Oisin Murphy seen as an obvious plus, there seems no logical reason why he won’t go well again.
16:15 Plumpton
UGGY UGGY UGGY (best price 7/2) returned to winning ways when allowed to drop back to the minimum trip at Warwick last time out (didn’t stay 2m5f previously) and with the runner-up going on to pay a handsome complement to the form next time, Milton Harris’ gelding can follow suit in a race that should be run to suit.
Hitting the front travelling easily rounding the home turn at the Midland venue, there was a question mark as to whether he might have hit the front too soon, but in striding even further clear of his nearest pursuer from the second last, he soon put that theory to bed.
Hiked in the ratings in accordance with the superiority he exhibited that day, he now finds himself in class 3 company, but given that he ran well at a similar level at Cartmel three starts ago (given too much to do), confidence is high the five-year-old can provide his in-form handler with another winner.
