TELEMARK (best price 7-2) created a favourable impression when getting off the mark at the second time of asking at Yarmouth last time and with similar conditions in place, Simon & Ed Crisford’s colt can sign off the season in style with a positive outcome in this Group 3 prize.

Promising on his debut at Leicester, the son of Night Of Thunder had a fair bit of confidence behind him at the seaside venue and having broken well to race on the speed from the start, he quickened up smartly on the rain-softened ground to pull readily clear late on.

Posting a useful time figure, not to mention his backend sectionals (best on the card), this improving chestnut not only has proven form under similar conditions to what he will face today, his prominent run style certainly won’t do him any harm based on how most races panned out here yesterday.

BUST A MOVE (best price 5-1) caught the eye with the way he finished off his race at York last time out and with evidence of that performance suggesting he could be a well handicapped horse going forward, Michael & David Easterby’s gelding can strike at the second time of asking in handicap company.

Promising on his first three starts to gain a mandatory mark, he was noticeably well supported on the Knavesmire to land what looked a competitive nursery on paper and although he came up a little short in the final analysis, everything about his effort was brimmed full of promise.

From the way he hit the line to the speed figure he posted, it was all positive stuff 21 days ago and with today’s similar underfoot conditions and galloping straight mile likely to suit, he rates a strong choice to take advantage of his current rating.

GLINGER FLAME (best price 6-1) maybe one of the oldest swingers in town compared to most of today’s field but, as he showed last time out at Kelso, the fire still burns bright, and with the numbers he posted from that race 45 days ago suggesting he is very much like a fine wine, Nicky Richards’ veteran can yet again prove age is no barrier to success.

The way he travelled before staying on best of all in the closing stages pointed towards a horse totally belying his advancing years and with conditions likely to be not too dissimilar to what they were at the Borders venue, the 11-year-old is fancied to be equally effective over today’s three-mile trip.

EXCEL POWER (NAP) (best price 4-1) found the combination of seven furlongs and being forced to race out wide two tough imposts to overcome here last time out but with a nice draw and step back up to his optimum trip seen as major positives towards his prospects on his return visit, a chance is taken on Archie Watson’s gelding bouncing back to his best.

Trying the trip for the first time for two years at the Essex track, there was always a chance he would find himself outpaced against many specialists over that distance and it wasn’t as if they went slow either, with the eventual winner, He’s A Monster, knocking out some quality fractions right from the start.
Widest of all turning for home, he did, however, finish off his race quite well just behind the main players and having won twice before over today’s C&D, he should be more at home with the tempo this race will have to offer.

If there is one race at the Breeders Cup almost guaranteed to go to the European raiders, this 1m4f contest on the turf is it and providing ONESTO (best price 7-1) can run somewhere near the level he did when finishing a never-nearer third in the Arc last month, Fabrice Chappet’s colt has decent chance of adding his name to the long list of previous French winners (six).

Sent off one of the outsiders in the end-of-season classic at Longchamp due to an uncharacteristically poor run in the Irish Champion Stakes, the four-year-old looked to have little chance of defying those odds as the field tuned for home but following the vapor trail carved out by eventual winner, Ace Impact, he stayed on very strongly to finish on the heels of the unbeaten three-year-old colt.

Considering that was only his third start since May, he should have plenty of energy left in the tank and with a profile that befits many previous winners of this race, a decent break from his favourable inside draw should provide him with the perfect platform from which build a late challenge.
