KING’S THRESHOLD (best price 7/1) left the impression the run would do him the world of good on his seasonal return at Bangor last month and with the conditions he faces today much more to his liking, Emma Lavelle’s inmate can back up that view.

Having his first outing for 168 days at the Welsh venue, the six-year-old travelled as well as anything coming out of the back straight but once heading for home, he began to buckle under the heat of a relentless gallop up front.

Ultimately fading into fourth, it was still a decent effort in the light of the speed figure of the race and heading back in the direction of where he probably belongs trip wise, the son of Yeats can prove a more potent threat at the business end this time around.

JACK THE SAVAGE (best price 6/1) did quite a bit wrong yet still managed to run out a convincing winner at Huntingdon last time out and with today’s track layout similar in many ways to what they were two weeks ago, Laura Horsfall’s inmate has a reasonable chance of following up.

Being a keen going sort, he once again threatened to over race in the early exchanges at the Cambridgeshire venue, but once settling down into a nice rhythm behind the reasonable pace set, he worked himself into a position whereby he held every chance off the home turn. Drawing level at the last, it became a question of whether he would find sufficiently enough off the bridle on the run-in to seal the deal and to his great credit, he picked up surprisingly well to ultimately score going away.

Pricking his ears close home, he left the impression there weas a bit in reserve if required and with the assessor seemingly not making any attempt to try and rein him back (only up 3lb in the ratings), the in-form five-year-old can continue along his merry way in the same grade.

PRINCE ALI (best price 11/2) has yet to run a bad race in seven starts at today’s venue and following one his better performances on the numbers here last time, Deborah Faulkner’s inmate can add to those healthy form figures that read 4322142.

A little keener than ideal in the early stages at the Dunstall Park track 18 days ago, he eventually settled down into a better rhythm once the free-going Gypsy Whisper picked up the pace down the back straight and hitting the front going well turning for home, it looked his for the taking until the late charge of Tiger Beetle intervened.

That said, he still ended up posting some very good numbers for the grade and with the third home, Cavalluiccio, boosting the form on his next start, the chances of the five-year-old following suit are pretty good if he can be switched off early from his wide draw.
