After a 11/2 winner yesterday, Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's action.
15:10 Chepstow
The Philip Hobbs & Johnson White trained LOWRY’S BAR (best priced at 15/8) is unbeaten in his three starts under rules and the gelding should be better suited by this step up in trip. The six-year-old finished 2nd in his only PTP before winning a maiden hurdle at Wincanton. He followed up that victory winning a Chepstow novice hurdle under a penalty by six lengths before winning on his handicap debut off a mark of 120.
Lowry’s Bar has won his three starts over 2 miles but shaped like this step up in trip to 2m3½f would suit and he should hold strong claims off a 6lb higher mark.
15:35 Catterick
This looks a weak 0-100 handicap hurdle and a chance is taken on WE STILL BELIEVE (best priced at 7/2) who outran odds of 28/1 to finish 2nd to a progressive rival earlier this month. The Daragh Bourke trained six-year-old had finished well beaten on his two starts since returning to hurdling at Market Rasen and Ayr before finishing 2nd at Musselburgh 19 days ago.
We Still Believe finished 2nd by twelve lengths behind the progressive Sunday Soldier that day with a re-fitted visor and that rival has since boosted the form with an easy win at Sedgefield on his next start. He is now rated 14lbs higher than at Musselburgh but We Still Believe runs here off the same mark and therefore looks well handicapped if in the same form.
17:30 Kempton
Jamie and Saffie Osbourne won with a similar handicap debutant Amiwithani on Monday and they could do the same in his race with ECCENTRIC (best priced at 3/1). The three-year-old had finished well beaten on his first three career starts over 6f at Kempton when sent off 125/1, 50/1 and 50/1 looking outpaced throughout.
Eccentric now steps up in trip to a mile on his handicap debut but crucially is now fitted with first time blinkers in this race. He is bred to be a lot better than this opening mark of 58 and can make a wining handicap debut in this race.
