EVIES VLADIMIR (best price 5/1) has enjoyed a productive time of late and following his second win of the campaign at Fairyhouse last time out, Gavin Cromwell’s gelding can add this valuable prize to his tally.

Off the mark at the first time of asking this season despite and absence of 517 days, the seven-year-old was rather let down by an indifferent round of jumping at Down Royal next time out but since the cheekpieces have been added, his levels of concentration seemed to have returned.

In a brutal test at Fairyhouse on his penultimate start, there was no shame in getting beaten by the in-form Bushman’s Park and with the time figure very good for a race of its kind, there was no surprise to see a repeat of that form good enough to go one place better on his return visit a few weeks later.

Once again coping with the testing conditions better than the rest of the field, the son of Shirocco jumped and travelled well before easing to a comfortable success and with his time figure and final circuit sectionals pointing towards his game being raised to an even higher level, it’s hard to argue with the adjustment the assessor has made subsequently.

Seemingly the stable second string according to jockey bookings and the betting, conditions are as such he might be capable of turning that thought process inside out, he makes a reasonable amount of each-way appeal in a competitive affair.

LAZER WOLF (best price 9/2) couldn’t quite cope with the progression nature of Miss Pronunciation at Fairyhouse last time out but there was enough in his performance to suggest he should remain competitive in races of a similar nature, and he deserves to be played accordingly.

Fitted with the tongue-tie for the first time at the Co Meath track, he was noted travelling as well as anything turning for home and although he quickened up well to pull nicely clear of the main pack, the winner was simply in a different league. However, with the data speaking favourably of the race, he comes out of the encounter with his best set of figures, and it was an effort that was in stark contrast to his uncharacteristically below-par one at Leopardstown previously.

A smooth traveller who seems to enjoy testing ground and stays at least 2m3f, today’s test should suit him more than most and it’s hard to see him not going well hailing from his in-form stable.
