Andy Holding is back with three tips for today's action.
15:35 Ayr
Eire Street looked a totally different proposition to the one we’d seen before on handicap debut last week and is likely to take plenty of beating in his bid to follow up, but he does face a rival in the shape of DUYFKEN (best price 5/1) who knows the ropes in races of this nature and at the morning odds, he makes far more appeal.
Placed on his first two outings this season, Nick Alexander’s inmate got his due rewards when running out a gutsy winner at Musselburgh two starts ago and although he failed in his attempt to follow up back at the Scottish track last time out, he did come out of the race with a good deal of credit.
Looking as though he was going to be completely swamped once headed by several at the third last, the five-year-old keep on bravely to maintain his levels of consistency by keeping on well for third and considering that race was far more competitive than the one he faces this afternoon, his chances of staying out there in front are probably greater than his price affords him.
16:30 Plumpton
CLONDAW ROBIN (best price 10/3) looked to have a similar race to this in the bag when falling at the last here last time out and providing his confidence is unaffected by that untimely exit, Andy Irvine’s gelding can finally gain that elusive victory over fences.
0-22 over the larger obstacles before he faced the starter at the Sussex venue, the 11-year-old jumped and travelled better than he ever had done before and seemingly having the strongly fancied Duhallow Tommy at the pin of his collar, he proceeded to get his wires mixed with his pilot and crashed out when only needing to stay on his feet.
Seemingly much better when allowed to bowl along at the head of affairs 28 days ago, a lot will depend on whether he gets the better of the early joust for the lead with fellow market leader Time To Bite but if that does turn out to be the case, he is likely to take shifting in his bid to gain compensation.
19:30 Wolverhampton
GUSTAV GRAVES (best price 4/1) left the impression he may have gone closer to adding to his previous C&D victory with a clearer run on Saturday evening and with a small dollop of good fortune going his way in this similar contest, there’s every chance he can make amends.
Shuffled back to midfield at the halfway point at the Dunstall Park venue, Derek Shaw’s gelding had the misfortune to run in traffic rounding the home turn and while this was happening, the eventual winner, Bang On The Bell, had slipped through his fingers and shot clear, ultimately building up an unassailable margin.
Keeping on well in the latter stages to snatch a creditable second, the six-year-old at least put in the short of shift to suggest he remains in top form and now back down slightly in grade, a performance of a similar stature should see him right in the mix again.
