MOYTIER (best priced at 9/4) missed an engagement at Taunton yesterday in preference for running in this race which makes sense given his impressive course and distance success last time. The Syd Hosie trained seven-year-old fell in January here when looking the most likely winner off a mark of 97 before winning by eleven lengths a month ago off a mark of 95.
The handicapper has raised Moytier 9lbs for that success which is fair and it is a big positive that Harry Cobden (1/1 on the horse) retains the ride. The hat-trick seeking Begin The Luck would be a danger but this is his first start for 298 days and I expect Moytier to prove hard to beat.

This looks an above average novice race with the well-bred Gamekeeper respected but preference instead goes to the impressive course and distance winner MUKAAFAH (best priced at 3/1). The Kevin Philippart De Foy trained colt was a beaten favourite at Yarmouth on his debut but was an impressive winner here in November when making all under Jim Crowley.

Mukaafah eased clear by 3 ½ lengths that day and despite the runner-up disappointing since, it looked a performance of a future group performer. He has had a break since in preparation for a turf campaign and I expect him to defy a 7lb penalty before stepping up in class.

MOUNT ATHOS (best priced at 7/4) has to bounce back from an odds on defeat at Wolverhampton on Boxing Day but following a break he should prove hard to beat back at Kempton. The James Tate trained five-year-old is unbeaten in his three starts at Kempton including when winning this race last season easily off a mark of 96.

Mount Athos won by a length in November over this course and distance off a mark of 101 and runs here off only a 4lb higher mark. With James Doyle back on board, who has only ridden him when winning over this course and distance, he should
